Did you know? Every Wednesday and Saturday here in Chicago we get to see some amazing fireworks. The event is pretty spectacular I might say but it is very difficult to find the good location to get a good photograph of the event. Thanks to my dear friend @nz.bfphoto we got to enjoy it and capture it at the same time. This is a 10 exposure blended and stitched pano. What do you think?
Whether the electric fence was powered up or not...not likely in winter, with snow lying around and temperatures below freezing... but well.I didn't try it out ;-) .
Used an aperture of 1.8 and an exposure time of 1/4000s for this one.

Short-eared Owl just touching down on a snag. Another fantastic day with friends and the owls. We are having a really nice stretch of good weather with lots of sun. East Amwell Township, Flemington, NJ.
A display at Hershey Gardens, one side made of reflective metal and the other side featuring natural elements from the park.
I guess castles always have a touch of Romance about them certainly Dunstanburgh Castle on the edge of the North Sea seems particularly magical. Taken a very warm July day back in 2013
Dunstanburgh Castle is a 14th-century fortification on the coast of Northumberland in northern England, located between the villages of Craster and Embleton. The castle was built by Earl Thomas of Lancaster between 1313 and 1322, taking advantage of the site's natural defences and the existing earthworks of a former Iron Age fort. Thomas was a leader of a baronial faction opposed to King Edward II, and probably intended Dunstanburgh to act as a secure refuge, should the political situation in southern England deteriorate. The castle also served as a statement of the earl's wealth and influence, and would have invited comparisons with the neighbouring royal castle of Bamburgh. Thomas probably only visited his new castle once, before being captured at Battle of Boroughbridge as he attempted to flee royal forces for the safety of Dunstanburgh. Thomas was executed, and the castle became the property of the Crown, before passing into the Duchy of Lancaster.

I'm adding this photo to show that it was frost and not just snow last Tuesday: it was taken at the same location and just seconds before I took the previous photo in my stream ;-).
If this were just snow, the brown earth would not have been visible.

Blind, loving, wrestling touch! sheath’d, hooded, sharp-tooth’d touch!
Did it make you ache so, leaving me?
Parting, track’d by arriving—perpetual payment of perpetual loan;
Rich, showering rain, and recompense richer afterward.

I've been going through photos and touching up the ones I was never really happy with; they had the potential to be good (or at least better) and I didn't know how, at the time, to really bring forth the beauty and atmosphere that I had intended to capture. So, I'll be posting some "Touch-Ups" every now and then of photos I've already posted.
This is Reynisdrangar in Vik, Iceland. My original photo (www.flickr.com/photos/gwennyma/16531614489/in/album-72157...) is a bland, gray landscape, but I wanted to show the fierce weather, the dramatic black sand, and the craggy rocks as they were meant to be. I hope you like this version more and that it gives that sense of the cold, harsh, and unique raw beauty that I experienced.
