Geoff’s Check-up at 18 Months After a Double Knee Replacement
Geoff had a double knee replacement in October 2014 and at around 18 months post the operation had an appointment with Dr. Coffey to check on his progress. After the surgery the pain in his knees gradually abated and at 12 months his recovery was complete.
Dr. Coffey asks how he felt about having a double knee replacement before he had it. Geoff says from the stories he’d heard from other people he’d expected it to be worse.
After their preliminary discussion Dr. Coffey asks Geoff to hop up onto the examination table and to bend his knees. Before the operation Geoff couldn’t straighten his knees. Both knees stopped short of full extension by 100 to 15° and he could only bend them back 95°.
Dr Coffey measures Geoff’s flexibility to find he can now bend his knees from 00, (an extra 10'451, to 105’, (an extra 10°).

Finally back SCUBA diving after seven weeks and two days of being stuck on land! It felt so good to be back in the water again! I was able to don/doff gear without difficulty. Also was able to climb the ladder in full gear, including weights, with no problem.

My blood is hard to get to. I make even the most experienced phlebotomist sigh in frustration. In this particular incident, she found one, tapped it, then had it go whacko on her. I ended up with the IV in the back of my hand. (and it doesn't even hurt).
I got my staples removed today. Things are going well otherwise. I got a refill of pain meds because I ran out yesterday and last night was a rough night for sleep. So, now I get to sleep and have enough pain meds to push through some physical therapy.

A really BIG arrow because they replaced my entire knee in my right leg. I had my left one done seven years ago and lemme tell ya, by comparison, this is SO MUCH better! I mean, look at me! Tomorrow I'm going to try to get into a normal tub-shower. If I can do that, then I can go home. (that's what has been keeping me here, my daughter's house has a walk-in shower and everything I need on one floor). So, fingers crossed!

I called this a "three-chis platter" on Instagram. If I have to have so many dogs close to my still-tender incision, I prefer it this way. Luna (the one closest to me) never jumps directly into my sore, surgical leg. However, Gregg and Beefy use my super-sensitive knee area as a launching stepping stone on their way up onto the loveseat. Of course, I don't know they're leaping up till they do and by then, they've scraped their raptor talons along my knee.
Sure, it isn't really their fault because they're dogs but damned if it doesn't feel that way sometimes!
I wish I could say he was being affectionate and gentle while sitting near my still-new scar. But, he was just sitting there watching me eat dinner after jumping onto my lap, using his needle-like talons to clamber oh-so-gracefully over my still-sore, still-new scar.

At the job #Matilda set off the metal detector, which delighted me in a way I can't explain
Then, on the way back, I walked down all the stairs. Down from the plaza/street to the station, then down to the first platform, then to the lower platform, AS the train was approaching. Got to the platform just in time to hear "The doors are closing" quickened my pace and made it on the train!
