Total Eclipse progression

I wanted to capture the entire umbral stage in 5 minute intervals. Alas, my 18-200mm Nikkor wasn't really up to the task, particularly while the moon was under greatest eclipse.

I also converted the images into an animated GIF.

Parts on spruce.

The smallest parts...are roughly the size of an ant.

Some of my eclipse pictures combined in one...

Used saturation and noise suppression on this one. Not bad.

The March 3, 2007 total lunar eclipse as seen from Carl Schurz Park, Manhattan. (Yup, the eclipsed Moon is the faint circle at the very top of the photo. This photo was taken shortly after it became visible, as the sky began to darken after sunset.)

TOTALITY!! The last bit of the chromosphere flicker out and the corona is revealed. Pictures in no way capture the beauty.
