1930 Cadillac V-16 Two-Passenger Coupe by Fleetwood
It might be hard to tell now, after the massive hit that Cadillac’s reputation took during the malaise era, but there was once a time when Cadillac’s drive to be the best luxury car company in the world was absolutely maniacal. This drive led to the purchase of two different coachbuilders, Fleetwood and Fisher, in the mid-’20s, so that Cadillac could offer everything for its cars in-house. The norm at the time for luxury cars was to buy just a chassis from the manufacturer and then a separate custom body from a coachbuilder. Cadillac wanted a customer to be able to order a full custom car from it (Cadillac), thus streamlining the process and potentially offering a greater range of custom options.
The other big push at the time was to develop a V16 engine, essentially just to show up Packard, Cadillac’s biggest rival, that had just debuted a new V12. And thus was born the Cadillac V16, sometimes just called the “Sixteen,” Cadillac’s top of the line model from 1930 to 1940. It was offered with a dizzying list of options, all right from Cadillac, and special requests were of course welcome. It was an era-defining luxury car.

Marmon Motor Car Company
When Howard Marmon began work on what was to be the world's first 16-cylinder automobile engine in 1926, development was carried out by the Midwest Aircraft Company to keep the project a secret from his competitors. Manufactured primarily from weight-saving aluminum with steel cylinder liners for durability, Marmon's overhead valve, 491-cu.in. V-16 was rated at an impressive 200 horsepower. At 930 pounds assembled, the Marmon engine was relatively light, reportedly enabling the Sixteen to out-accelerate a Duesenberg Model J for roughly a third of the price.
Unfortunately for Marmon, the project didn’t remain secret long enough. Engineer Owen Nacker was lured away by Cadillac, which developed a V-16 of its own for the 1930 model year. The Cadillac engine displaced 452-cu.in. and made just 165 horsepower – 35 hp less than the Marmon – but carried a higher price tag. Marketability aside, Cadillac was backed by GM, giving it the financial resources to weather the Depression, something that Marmon lacked. In 1933, Marmon ended its automobile production, merged with Herrington, and focused on production of automobile parts and all-wheel drive trucks.
When the Marmon Motor Car Company introduced its new V-16 models for 1931, the Indianapolis automaker already had two strikes against it: The Great Depression had decimated luxury car sales, and rival Cadillac had beaten it to market with a V-16 of its own. Less than 400 Marmon Sixteens were built before the company ceased automobile production in 1933, and of these, roughly 75 remain today, including an estimated six LeBaron-bodied coupes. On Friday, March 9, a 1931 Marmon Sixteen Coupe by LeBaron sold for $1.05 million at RM Sotheby's Amelia Island sale, beating the pre-auction estimate of $700,000-$900,000 and landing a spot in the sale’s top-10.

- Morgan Motor Company was founded in 1909 by H.F.S. Morgan and was run by him until 1959. Peter Morgan, son of H.F.S., ran the company until his death in 2003.
- The factory has about 155 employees, which assembled all Sport Cars by hand. The waiting list for a car can be up to a year. Production is nine cars a week and each car takes three months to build.
- Faced with the decreasing availability of large four-cylinder engines for use in their +4 models, Morgan began to install the recently-available Rover V8 engine in their cars in 1968, giving these cars the model designation +8.
- In the +8's final iteration, the Rover V8 was fuel-injected and produced 190 bhp / 5.280 rpm, torque of 298 Nm / 4.000 rpm and a topspeed of 212 km/h.
- This first Series Plus 8 2-Seater (1968-1991), designed by Maurice Owen, was introduced in September 1968.
- Series 2 run from 1991 until 2004 and a total of 3,506 units (Series 1 and 2) of this British iconic Sports Car were built.
La Tosca’s design, heavily influenced by modern aircraft, featured a Plexiglas roof canopy and retractable headlights. Its canted fins gave it a wide appearance and emphasized its triangular shapes. The reversing lights were designed to replicate fighter jet tubes, adding to the car’s sleek, aerodynamic aesthetic. The body was made of fiberglass, which was mounted on a special radio-controlled chassis. This made the car lightweight and easy to maneuver by remote control, which was quite innovative for the 1950s. The car could be moved in all directions without a driver inside.
The La Tosca was part of Ford's vision for the "world of tomorrow," showcasing what the future of automobiles might look like.

The German Class 41 steam locomotives were standard train engines operated by the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DRB) and built from 1937–1941. They were primarely designed to haul freight. A lot of the freight consisted of cattle, and therefore it had the nickname: Ochsenlok (cattle locomotive).
A total of 366 were built by a number of manufacturers according to standardized specification. The one I built is nr. 41-241. It was manufactured by Borsig (AEG) from Hennigsdorf, Germany. It is now in possesion of the Dutch VSM and currently converted from an oil rebuilt back to coal again.
This particular engine is called “Polarstern” as it crossed the polarcircle on a trip in Norway during the nineties.
The engine is 23,905 mm (78 ft 5 in) in length (including tender). It has a service weight of just over 101 tons. The power is around 1870 hp, capable of bringing the engine upto 90 km/h (56 mph) topspeed.
My Lego version is scaled 1:38 to correct Lego gauge. It is powered by two PF XL engines, and can be controlled by Lego’s PF IR Speed Remote Control Unit. Its all genuine Lego,except the valvetrain and wheels. The valvetrain is designed by myself and Jaap Kroon (www.jaaptechnic.com/), who 3D printed them in marvelous red and grey for me.
This engine will be on display in October at the Legoworld event in Utrecht, Netherlands, and will be riding together with the UP Big Boy.

I have always had great admiration for Duesenberg; a small already long gone manufacturer named after the two brothers Duesenberg that was known for its performance and extreme luxury, packed in a beautiful design. Only few could afford a Duesenberg as the car was much more expensive than a regular car at the time. The type J and SJ (supercharged) could easily cost 15.000 USD, in a time a common car would cost 500 USD.
The mid thirties SJ might be the best they made. The supercharged 419cu (6.8 liter) eight in line engine produced 320 hp and was capable taking the car to a topspeed of 205 km/h; a figure hard to imagine in 1935!
Many famous people drove the SJ, including Hollywood stars like Clarck Gable. Only a couple of hundred Duesenberg were ever built before the company died, but as they were rare and collectable many survived till today. They come at a high pricetag though; Duesenbergs have been sold for up to ten million at auction.
My LEGO model is based on the Dual Cowl Pheaton, by LaGrande. It is build in scale 1:8.5 (derived from the wheel size), and consists of roughly 5000 parts. I have put in a lot of detail, like the engine (it was always painted green in a Duesenberg), and added some retro-chromed parts as well. I made two roof setups to show the car open and closed.

Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) has revealed the most powerful, agile and extreme performance Jaguar road car ever produced – the 200 mph, 592 HP Jaguar XE SV Project 8 sedan.
The Project 8 exclusively features the most powerful version of the Jaguar Land Rover 5.0-liter Supercharged V8 gasoline powertrain, which is complemented by a standard All Wheel Drive (AWD) system and motorsport-derived aerodynamics to deliver top speed and 0-60 mph in 3.3 sec, making Project 8 the fastest accelerating Jaguar yet.

Dutch Pride: the new Spyker C8 Aileron.
Due to the futuristic looks of this car, I decided to create a bit of a apocalyptic feeling in the shot. I guess it fits the orange supercar very well but I'm curious of what you guys think of it.
The Spyker C8 Aileron is powered by an Audi 4.2 Liter V8 that produces 400 HP and is available with the choice of two differnet transmissions. The first being a 6 speed Getrag manual gearbox, with ratios perfectly matched to the engine’s output, as well as a ZF 6 speed automatic gearbox, which comes standard with paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel allowing the driver to swap cogs smoothly and accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 187 MPH.
The C8 Aileron’s design is heavily inspired by Spyker’s aviation heritage, as is the case with all of their models, and is named after the flaps on the wings that are used to control the plane’s rolling and banking movements. Compared to previous models, the C8 Aileron features a larger grille that provides additional cooling to the radiator elements as well as a rear diffuser that redesigned for improved functionality. Meanwhile an additional spoiler has been placed under the rear diffuser, providing additional down force in order to aide the ground effects package and keep the special C8 glued to the road.

The new Lamborghini LP570-4 Superleggera will weigh in at around 154 pounds less than the Gallardo LP 560-4. The 5,2 liter V10 engine will deliver an incredible 570 hp. The result is a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, from 0 to 124 mph in only 10.2 seconds later, while the top speed goes up to 202 mph.
The car’s exterior is defined by three-dimensional front bumper with large air intakes, new sill elements and a redesigned diffuser incorporating four large tailpipes and a big rear spoiler available as an option.
Introduced in 2001, the Aero 8 was notable for several reasons. First, it was the first new Morgan design since 1948. Second, it was also the first Morgan to employ an aluminum chassis and frame as opposed to the wooden body tub and steel chassis in previous models. It was also criticized for its "crosseyed" headlamps, which Morgan fixed in 2007. Replaced by the Aero SuperSports and Aero Coupe, the Aero 8 just made a comeback at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show as Morgan’s range-topping roadster model.
Obviously based on the current Aero Coupe, the Aero 8 features similar exterior styling, an almost identical cockpit, and a BMW-sourced V-8 engine. Of course, the Aero 8 comes with a few unique features of its own and plenty of options buyers can use to customize their roadster into a one-of-a-kind rig. The new Aero 8 will hit showrooms as a limited-edition model for the 2016 model year, when Morgan celebrates 15 years since launching the nameplate, but don’t get your hopes up on seeing it in the U.S. any time soon.

* British sports car manufacturer Morgan Motor Company will no longer produce vehicles powered by V-8 engines. With both the Plus 8 and Aero 8 models going out of production in 2019, Morgan will retire the V-8 engine for good. Interestingly enough, the V-8-powered Morgan will be phased out exactly 50 years since the company built the first car with this type of engine.

To control these complexes racing mecha it was also necessary to develop a new interface helmet for the pilot.
At the moment 25 years old Aurora Rossa from Italy is Ferraris top racing mecha pilot.
Aurora is a former Earth-Force starfighter pilot with a lot of experience controlling fast machines.
