These pictures were taken during a trip to Rome in Jun 2008, where I presented a 2-day seminar on "Web 2.0".
This is the Canova restaurant, right at the edge of Piazza del Poppolo on Via del Babuino ("Baboon Street", in English); as you can see, it has a bunch of outdoor tables, for people to enjoy a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or just some good old-fashioned people-watching.
I got here, on my way back from the Spanish Steps, just before 7:45 PM -- in the last glow of the sunshine before it dropped down below the skyline of the city behind me.
This is the couple shown, a few pictures earlier, sitting at the table on the far left of the restaurant. She was talking fairly intensely, but I couldn't tell if he was paying attention, or sound asleep...

Além do TOP12 tradicional, com os esmaltes mais lindos que usei em 2015, também selecionei minhas nail arts favoritas do ano:
1. carimbada com leadlight - me apaixonei por esta técnica de pincelar a carimbada com os top coats coloridos. Fica tão delicado, parece uma aquarela nazunha!
2. pinceladas aleatórias dos Sheer Tints - outra técnica usando os top coats coloridos, que fiz como base para uma carimbada, mas curti bem mais assim, antes de carimbar.
3. carimbada rendada - nada de novo, só uma simples carimbada cujo efeito delicado me encantou.
4. carimbada sobre esponjado - adorei esta combinação de técnicas, achei o resultado muito harmonioso e divertido.
5. bicolor com distressed - foi a primeira vez que experimentei a técnica distressed, achei bem simples de fazer e amei o resultado.
Uma técnica que descobri em 2015 e curti bastante foi a carimbada ~didolina (aquela em que se preenche/colore a estampa ainda no carimbo, antes de passar para a unha), mas nenhuma das que fiz derreteu meu <3, por isso não entrou no meu top5. Espero fazer nail art com mais frequência, no próximo ano, para experimentar novas técnicas e aperfeiçoar as minhas favoritas.
Não sei se conseguirei postar azunha da virada a tempo, pq sequer escolhi o que vou usar, e ainda tem o saldo do mês para mostrar amanhã, então já aproveito para desejar um ano novo mais justo e pacífico, com mais compreensão, tolerância, amor e compaixão, além de muita saúde e alegria para todos nós!!

The Racetrack is a unique attraction of Death Valley National Park that not many park visitors get to see. It's a dry lakebed in a very remote and beautiful area. On the north end of the lakebed is a rock formation known as the grandstands. Rocks from the grandstands and other nearby formations break off and fall onto the lake. There, they perform feats that make this remote playa world-famous.
They move! But after all these years, a hundred or more since this phenomenon was brought to the attention of naturalists studying Death Valley, no one has ever seen them move. These rocks aren't boulders; most are perhaps a foot or so tall, but can still weigh a lot and are not easy to lift.

5. Lomo Purple – This strange and different film stock reproduces the look of colour infrared, but without all the different handling and filters and the best part, it’s processed in C-41!
4. Eastman High-Contrast 5363 – Originally designed for title work on motion pictures, it produces beautiful still photography images. A high-contrast chrome feels and with blue-sensitive emulsion gives a unique look especially in portrait work! Just make sure to shoot this film outside or using electronic flash.
3. Kodak Low Speed 2254 – How low can you go? How about ISO-1.6, yes this is a super low-speed C-41 film that’s great for long exposure work and was originally designed as a copy film for motion picture work.

And now you can shoot this at home in your cameras. Just watch out the processing, it still has a remjet layer, so it’s ECN-2, there are plenty of labs out there who process ECN-2, but the easy way is to develop it at home in a C-41 kit and gently rub the remjet off before stabilising.
I live virtually next to this church and we got woken up by the girls next door saying the flames were atleast 7 storeys high, watched it for awhile on the rooftop (level 9) then went downstairs to mountain street, and after watching the roof collapse I got interviewed by Daily Telegraph and Radio 2UE.
These photos are RAW. I got to show them to Daily Telegraph and the photographer was impressed we got such a spectacular view (it's so sad):(

Sydney icon goes up in flames

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.
That was the message today on the website of Sydney's historic St Barnabas Church, which was destroyed by fire early this morning.
Firefighters were called to the 148-year-old church, on the corner of Mountain Street and Broadway, about 3.30am (AEST) after the fire broke out in the building and neighbouring hall.
The UniLodge block, which houses up to 600 people behind the church, was saved because of a sprinkler system that doused the outside of the building, creating a water shield, a fire brigade spokesman told ABC Radio.
Anglican Bishop of South Sydney Robert Forsyth, who was minister of the church for 17 years, said today he was shocked to learn of the fire, but there was no doubt St Barnabas would be rebuilt.
"The attitude of the minister and elsewhere is a mixture: it's sad, but they also are defiant and hopeful," he said.
"If you believe in a resurrecting God, a church burning down is sad but it's not the end of the world."
Since the 1920s, St Barnabas has been well-known for its friendly feud with the nearby Broadway Hotel, with the two institutions trading witty messages on their prominent street-side billboards.
Smouldering shell
More than 60 firefighters, using 10 pumping appliances and three ladder trucks, fought the blaze and were able to prevent it from spreading to the UniLodge block.
The church was left a smouldering shell. Fire investigators this morning say they can't confirm yet whether it will have to be pulled down but "it's not looking good".
They said the front and rear walls - the oldest parts of the building - were unlikely to remain.
St Barnabas Church Assistant Minister Andrew Ford said it was very sad to see the building go.
"[It was] a great place for people in the community for almost 150 years."
Mr Ford said some of Sydney's oldest stained glass and one of the oldest organs had also been lost.
Mr Jurgeit said at least two people had reported hearing explosions about the same time as the church caught fire.
"There was some reports of an explosion in the church at the time we were notified of the fire. We've got a fire investigator on scene at the moment."
Once the church's walls have been stabilised, an investigation will begin into the cause of the fire.
"Fire investigators [will] go in and possibly use a K9 accelerant dog to sniff for petrols and things like that."
The fire forced the closure of all four Broadway lanes in the area but Mr Jurgeit said it would reopen by about 6.40am.
The RTA's Traffic Management Centre said motorists using Broadway would experience only minor delays this morning.
Mr Forsythe said services that would normally be held in the gutted building - including a baptism planned for this Sunday - would still go ahead at alternative locations.
He said the church was in negotiations with Moore College at Sydney University and hoped to use one of its lecture halls to hold services in the short term.

- Sun pun - At St Barnabas Church on Broadway, a large Easter sign outside says: "The Father did not spare his son but gave him up for us all.'' Across the road, at the Broadway Hotel, is a sign which reads: "And behold, all we have is the Mirror."
- In the election spirit, the latest message from St Barnabas Church, Broadway, reads: "God keeps his promises."
In an important research that could lead to the development of vaccine to prevent one of the most prevalent diseases of our time – Type-2 diabetes, US researchers have found that toxins produced by a bacterium may cause the disease.
The researchers found that prolonged exposure to a toxin produced by Staphylococcus aureus (staph) bacteria causes rabbits to develop the hallmark symptoms of Type-2 diabetes, including insulin resistance, glucose intolerance, and systemic inflammation.
“We basically reproduced Type-2 diabetes in rabbits simply through chronic exposure to the staph superantigen,” said lead researcher Patrick Schlievert, professor at University of Iowa in the US.
The findings suggest that therapies aimed at eliminating staph bacteria or neutralising the superantigens – toxins produced by all strains of staph bacteria – might have potential for preventing or treating Type 2 diabetes.
“I think we have a way to intercede here and alter the course of diabetes,” Schlievert said.
“We are working on a vaccine against the superantigens and we believe that this type of vaccine could prevent the development of Type-2 diabetes,” Schlievert said.
The findings also explain why obesity that leads to changes in the ecosystem of bacteria that colonise our bodies is a risk factor for Type-2 diabetes.
“What we are finding is that as people gain weight, they are increasingly likely to be colonised by staph bacteria – to have large numbers of these bacteria living on the surface of their skin,” Schlievert said.
“People who are colonised by staph bacteria are being chronically exposed to the superantigens the bacteria are producing,” Schlievert said.
The researchers found that toxins produced by all strains of staph bacteria interact with fat cells and the immune system to cause chronic systemic inflammation, and this inflammation leads to insulin resistance and other symptoms characteristic of Type-2 diabetes.Source: IANS To know more visit www.yogagurusuneelsingh.com Pic By Vijay Gautam
