Great Blue Heron and Coot
A coot watches in awe as the Great Blue Heron takes off for a better fishing spot.

By no means perfect focus as the little b just touched down & was off again but some bits are OK. I'll try harder next time!
Angry sky at sunset
Little did I know that there was a tornado warning for our county as I was shooting this.
30 minutes after this shot we did have a loud thunderstorm, but no tornado.

See it LARGER.
If you believe, anything is possible.
This one is for Steve Keat. Thanks for the lovely testimonial! Have a wonderful Sunday!

From my balcony the other day,
A mountain of floating skyscrapers appeared,
Imagination took over...
This is a photograph looking north from Elgol on the Isle of Skye... :)
A vertorama with a mixture of exposures from .6 of a second up to 26 seconds.
Hard to get a shot from around here without Anne Stricklands white jacket popping up somewhere...
Location: São Bartolomeu do Mar (Portugal)
Camera: Canon EOS 10D
Lens: Tokina 12-24mm f/4 AT-X AF PRO DX
Notes: the traditional festival in São Bartolomeu do Mar, occurs through out August and culminates on the 24th with the famous “Banho Santo” (Holy Bath), which the locals believe has the power to protect children’s health and alleviate sickness.

Colère
Quand le ciel est en colère
Il vaut mieux se taire
Ne rien dire
Pour ne pas entrevoir le pire
En ce début d' après midi
La terre s' obscurcie
Tout devient silence
Comme ma prière d' espérance
La pluie ne tombera pas
Le soleil reviendra
Je regarderai les nuages moutons
S ' en aller pour de bon

These golden clouds blew in on one hot summer day in Austin as we were walking to a Blues on the Green concert in Zilker Park. We had been in a drought for months without any hope of rain, when a hurricane came into the Gulf of Mexico bringing these golden clouds at sunset to Austin and some relief from the heat. Little did we know the havoc that Hurricane Katrina would wreak elsewhere that hurricane season.

Seed husk of European chestnut (Castanea sativa).
There was a sign at the orchard saying you could pick your own chestnuts, but I certainly wouldn't do it without a thick pair of gloves. It was painful enough to lightly handle this one, let alone grip one and yank it out of a tree!

Reached #20 spot in Top 20 Brown pool.
'August' means 'majestic'.
Yes, the sky in August (sometimes in the preceding and succeeding months too) is really majestic and glorious at the time of sunset

The Amber Room is still missing, but I think a chair or two wound up at my neighborhood cafe...
(If you're not up on your looted-art history: a Russian palace had a room completely paneled in amber; the German army looted it during World War II; and it hasn't been seen since. Rumors of it turn up every now and then, and people are still searching for it.)

I arrived into Thailand this weekend and have been in content-creation mode non stop. I did take a chance back at the hotel to process this one picture I thought y'all would enjoy.
(and yes that sun picture is real... it was burning through the bottom while still streaming light over the top).
This picture is of Wat Arun, a famous Buddhist temple in Thailand. I took it from a really cool little Italian restaurant across the way that is attached to a boutique hotel named "Arun Residence". I will stay at this place next time - be sure to get the balcony room at the top if you come... it's just over $100 a night.
