An odd little token I found in the grass outside of work. A Google search has found it's just an arcade token - not nearly as exciting as originally thought it could be given where it was found.
Created with fd's Flickr Toys.
Token is over twice the size of Devi now. I wouldn't be surprised if I came home one day to find Token passed out from eating Devi.

The New York City Transit Authority first introduced the "Bullseye" tokens on January 1, 1986 when the fare was raised to $1. The metal disc in he centre was to prevent the use of slugs by fare evaders, although that didn't stop the token suckers.
The tokens were used through two more fare increases - $1.15 in 1990 and $1.25 in 1992.

Listing in an 1860 Tennessee business directory for Wyant Benjamin, May-flower saloon, 137 Main. [Memphis, Tennessee]
Seems another example of these comes up on ebay every six months or so.
Either this saloon distributed an incredible number of these or someone is taking plain and greatly worn old half dollars and putting this stamping on them to sell today for $200+ a pop.

My old Nikon always was pretty good at taking macros. Much better than any of the lenses I currently have for my Canon.
People say the new token "has weight to it so it won't be confused with a dime". Some unscientific measuring on my digital kitchen scale says it weighs as much as a dime: 2 grams. It is thicker than a dime though, so it definitely feels different. I think it's that thickness that makes it seem heavier than it is.
