We shot The Toadstools , near Kanab, Utah in the daytime, then returned to shoot it when the Milky Way was visible. I realized that I needed a warmer jacket and while exciting, it was painfully cold. Interestingly, Venus rose while we watched the Milky Way cross the sky and created an eerie optical illusion. Had not it been pictured on our cameras in one place, our eyes saw it jumping around the sky like no earthly vessel would have been able to accomplish. It had light stars, like sun stars, but more delicate and wavy. Quite eerie and wonderful. Here's a composite made up of a stacked exposure combined with a long exposure of the foreground (thanks to Cindy for teaching me this technique) and an exposure of the sky, showing Venus to above the horizon. I'm researching warm coats and welcome any suggestions. I have an arctic weight coat, but it is too large and bulky to travel with to all but he most extreme environments. Any recommendations?
I noticed these toadstool guys sprouting out of my fence post - think I need to replace my fence. The only problem is the last time I replaced a bit of fence I broke my knuckle and couldn't hold a camera for several months so maybe I'd better get somebody in to do it for me.
I went for a little rummage in the bushes at lunchtime and found some little beauties. So delicate, so proud, I didn't want to touch them, but leave them to savour again..............when I can return with a tripod. And I used far too shallow a depth of field too. But I shall soon return for another go and a bit more exploration in the bushes and undergrowth. Great place, the Bollin River Walk
After an usually long hot dry summer in Scotland the mosses, lichens and ferns are all springing back into life and now that it is autumn there are bewildering varieties of toadstools popping up throughout the woods.

Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria). Famous, enchanting and highly toxic. Fly agaric is the home of fairies and magical creatures and a lover of birch woodland, where it helps trees by transferring nutrients into their roots, but if eaten can cause hallucinations and psychotic reactions.
Tessy the Toadstool Faerie enjoys having adventures in the garden, but even she has to stop climbing and playing games of make believe when her mummy calls her to family tea with her parents and baby Tobias.
The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 5th of July is "triptych", which is a set of three associated or interconnected images displayed together as a single artwork. It\'s like a visual story told through three separate but related photographs, often with a shared theme or narrative. The request for this theme is that three separate photos are used and that they are displayed in the traditional orientation: side by side. For the theme, I have chosen four little little toadstool faeries – Tessy, her mother, her father and baby Tobias in his father’s arms. All these little toadstool faeries are hand made and felted by Ambrosius in Romania and were acquired from Oskar’s Wooden Ark, a small, independent, family run business the Adelaide suburb of Gepps Cross in South Australia.
Ambrosius dolls have been lovingly made in Transylvania, Romania, since 1996. A collaboration between Katalin Poszony, the owner of Ambrosius, and a Waldorf School resulted in beautiful, eco-friendly, handmade fairy dolls, inspired by particular flowers or fruits. From there on Ambrosius flower fairies took the world by storm but Katalina’s love for nature and focus on sustainability remained the same. All of her creations are made from sustainable materials such as wool, wool felt, and wood. Katalina’s company Ambrosius doesn’t only support the environment but is also one of the few Romanian companies that support mothers with young children, retirees and people with disabilities by offering them working from home opportunities. Giving back and helping the ones in need is also close to Katalina’s heart and a part of Ambrosius’ profits is donated to the local Waldorf School and also to educational institutions in some of Transylvania\'s poorer villages.
I would like to acknowledge and thank my Flickr Friend Red Stilletto red stilletto for inspiring me to use the application of a wide white frame, a design element she uses to create great impact with her own images.

I looked it up and apparently there is no scientific difference between mushrooms and toadstools... well, I didn't know
that! This little one is alone in the dampest, and often most interesting, part of our garden. Last year they grew in abundance. This year I struggled to find any!
This little fly was setting on the edge of a toadstool, soaking up the sun to warm up. Taken at Christian Renewal Center.
