I really liked the texture/pattern of this family. Many times in the forest it pays off to assume myopic vision to appreciate nature's details

One of the many kinds of toadstool mushrooms that grow along the darkness of the forest floor.

I'll need to make a closer study of hyphae like these, after noticing back home that this shot suggests there's a hard outer core with a more flexible central strand. The toadstools are growing beside a rotting log, very close to a small river (the South Esk).

Toadstools hike in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument - An amazing short hike amidst these unique formations that is less than an hour from Kanab, UT. We stopped by on the way back from a day long visit to the National Monument and the last few shots were in fading light. Some humans included for scale
