Titanium dioxide TiO2 used in paint coating is divided into anatase type TiO2 paint and rutile type TiO2 in paint, according to international practice, known as R type and A type respectively. Rutile type and anatase type without post-treatment are called RI type and AI type respectively. The treated rutile type and anatase type are called R2, R3 and A2 type respectively. The rutile titanium dioxide in the present market are mostly belong to R2 and R3 type, R2 type sales accounted for more than 70%. R2 and R3 accounted for 77% and 22%, respectively, of rutile titanium dioxide in coatings.

Performance of Titanium Dioxide Paints & Coating
The TiO2 coating is a viscous suspension composed of a base material, pigment, filler, solvent and additive. It will be coated on the surface of the object to form a layer of tough film, decoration and protection of the object. When used as titanium pigments, titanium dioxide in paint industry is called titanium white, Pigment White 6 (PW6), or CI 77891. The pigment in the coating has a certain covering power, it not only covers the original color of the coated surface but also give the bright color of the coating film to achieve the role of beauty and decoration. At the same time titanium dioxide paint pigment and fixative close combination, melt into one body, can enhance the mechanical strength and adhesion of coating film, prevent crack, and can increase the thickness of coating film, prevent penetration of ultraviolet ray and moisture, improve the aging resistance of coating film, prolong service life. No matter solvent or water-based paint, if use the titanium dioxide white pigment, the effect is not only to cover and adornment, more important is to improve the function of physical and chemical performance, enhance the chemical stability, to improve the covering power, reducing power, anticorrosive strength, light resistance, weatherability, enhance mechanical strength and adhesion of paint film, prevent crack, ultraviolet light and water penetration, and postpone aging, extend the life of the paint film. Saving material and increase varieties at the same time.
This brown-black pigment in the ileum Is titanium dioxide (TiO2). It is a common additive (E171) used in toothpastes, chewing gums and variety of processed foods. It is not clear if deposition of this material in tissues is harmful or not.
