Campagnolo Super Record 11 Ti components with Ciamillo Gravitas brake calipers and Lightweight Obermayer wheels round out this incredible bicycle's components.

...because I need some titanium on my 5/6 fly reel, I replaced the plastic knobs with this pair of Ti knobs I turned. Was fun to make these as there were some small parts I had to match out of stainless.
Doing some restocking of Titanium and 4130. Was getting low on a few profiles of common Ti tubes and I wanted to keep my reserve of .625 and .75" OD 4130 robust. The first half of that order should be arriving some time next week.

Para escoger el revestimiento de la fachada, el arquitecto se fijó en las plumas y escamas de muchos animales. Decidió usar ”escamas” rígidas de manera que montasen unas encima de otras. Quiso desde el primer momento que estas piezas fuesen metálicas. Barajó varias posibilidades. Decidió no usar acero inoxidable porque decía que no correspondía con el cielo de Bilbao. También descartó la posibilidad de usar cobre. Finalmente se decantó por titanio, metal de alto coste que contrasta con los materiales económicos usados en sus primeras obras. La aleación definitiva es de cinc y titanio, existiendo una proporción mucho mayor del segundo metal, lo que otorga a estas placas de un color gris acerado con aguas más oscuras. El espesor del recubrimiento es sólo un tercio de milímetro y resulta muy manejable. Al ser tan fino, se adapta perfectamente a la curva descrita por el edificio.
Cada pieza tiene una forma única y exclusiva al lugar que ocupa y está ligeramente almohadillada para que se adapte perfectamente a su lugar a las piezas que la preceden y anteceden. Hay zonas en las fachadas con remiendos, es decir, conjuntos de chapas con diferentes colores, debido a las ligeras variaciones de la aleación metálica que hay en cada pieza. Hay chorretones en algunas fachadas, especialmente las que dan al norte, por causa de la reacción química entre las chapas, la humedad ambiental y los ganchos que sujetan las piezas, que no son de titanio. En los próximos años se plantea por lo tanto, para conservar la estética, una restauración en profundidad.
