The marquee in front of the Woodland Inn at Short Gap, WV, advertising that weekend's entertainment. During the years I lived in Cumberland, I shared a name with a local musician who frequently played around town and in the surrounding areas. As this was still in phone book and land-line days, I would periodically get calls from people looking for the musician. I wonder if he ever got calls from people looking for the weird train guy. I'm guessing not.

White-tipped Sicklebill, Panama. This hummingbird's bill is adapted for feeding on Heliconia plants. This large and impressive hummingbird is found in the cloudforests around the Canopy Lodge in El Valle, Panama.

Native, yearlong-green, perennial, slender, tufted to mat-forming, C3 grass; to 60 cm tall and with short, slender rhizomes. Leaves are flat, bright green to dark green, 1-12 mm wide, smooth or rough and hairless to hairy. Leaf tips are usually notched and small hairy auricles may occur at the base of the leaf. Flowerheads are weeping, narrow panicles or racemes to 15 cm long. Spikelets are
green and 3-flowered; glumes are reduced to minute scales or hairs; 2 lower sterile florets each have a straight green awn; upper fertile floret is awnless. Found in many habitats. Although usually a minor component of dry open native-natural pastures, it can become dominant in shaded, moister areas, such as along forest edges and under she-oaks on river flats. Very tolerant of acid soils, exchangeable aluminium and drought.
Use what you have? OK! I have scraps for days. So I took a handful of oilcloth scraps and I cut out a sign for my cute hubbies birthday! I just taped it straight to the wall. But I recommend you use that gummy non-marking stick up stuff.

This is the first time I've ever gotten glitter tips and I got them in blue! :) I LOVE them so much! The ring is a fox ring that I got at forever 21 for $3. :)
If you're looking for a stage name and you're performing in Hawaii, try the name Tips Mahalo. You'll have plenty of name recognition.
This is the basic set up for my poster. I've adjusted the positions of the barista, bartender, and waiter to create a bit more cohesion, I guess. I tried to keep the palette a little on the down side. I wanted the health cross to be green, but it just got absolutely eaten by the colors around it and disappeared.
I think I might swap so the barista's holding the health cross and so the bartender's holding the graduation hat.
I want to add a lot of texture to this like with the hair, the banners, and especially where the stripes of the waiter meet the bartender's tie since that makes just a weird shape. I'll also skooch the waiters' far right stripes and suspender to make them more obvious. For the time being, however, this is what I've got. I'm still completely open for critiques.
While photographing Andrew Doyle from the Ferguslie Park Community Council. Where Andrew was trying to highlight the changes he’d like to see in order to make better for all its residents. Things like planting fruit trees on the unused land for everyone to benefit from as well as teaching children about foraging and what we can and cannot eat that grows in the wild all around us.
Then there was the need to draw attention to the disappearing road markings such as the circled 20 miles limit long rubbed out by years of traffic going over them. Much like the bicycles only lanes markings which where near impossible to see cars where no parking all over them.
Plus wouldn’t it be nice if we cleaned up the rail bridges heading into Ferguslie long covered in graffiti while adding welcome to Ferguslie signs to entice people in, if not just to allow strangers passing through to know where they are.
Saying that the railway have placed discouraging signs “WE ARE WATCHING YOU” on their rail fences which only leaves people feeling they where being watched when entering Ferguslie and rather off putting. What’s worse the same signs where trying to discourage littering when the place was covered in graffiti and garbage. So there effectiveness was less than effective..
But what shocked us the most is when we walked into the old Ferguslie park prefabs known local as cowboy valley which was nothing more than a massive rubbish tip full of burnt out tyres, asbestos and every type of building rubble imaginable.
We even stumbled over a brand new “still in the plastic wrapping” linoleum roll, that would have looked nice on anyone’s floor instead of being tipped illegally in the valley..
This left us both with one question on our minds. Given the amount of fly tipping and the worst being asbestos and the tyres, to which both had been set on fire putting residents health at risk. Why hasn’t anyone cleaning this up this long over due mess or even blocking off the entrance to prevent further pollution being dumped.
So when Renfrewshire council has is next community wide clean up day, why not bring everyone together and clean up cowboy valley while adding concrete barriers to prevent the real cowboys from dumping all over our streets. Or better still, make all council waste points free to use instead of charging people who in turn break the law to save a buck….
