Berlinale
Verbrechen lohnt sich wieder. Zumindest im Kino: Quer durch die Sektionen der diesjährigen Berlinale interessieren sich besonders die deutschen Filmemacher für kriminelle Aktivitäten und die Zusammenhänge, aus denen sie hervorgehen. In seinem Wettbewerbsbeitrag "Der Räuber" erzählt Benjamin Heisenberg die wahre Geschichte eines Österreichers, der jahrelang abwechselnd Langstrecken lief und Banken überfiel. Im Mittelpunkt von Thomas Arslans Forumsbeitrag "Im Schatten" steht ebenfalls ein Banküberfall, den in diesem Fall ein wortkarger Ex-Sträfling mit seiner Anwältin in Kreuzberg ausheckt. Dominik Graf hat sich gleich die Russenmafia vorgenommen. Sein neunstündiges, als Fernsehserie angelegtes Gangster-Epos "Im Angesicht des Verbrechens" wird gegen Ende des Festivals in zwei Sondervorführungen im Delphi gezeigt – sicherlich eines der großen Ereignisse der Berlinale 2010. Für unsere Titelgeschichte, in der wir auch in diesem Jahr einen umfassenden Überblick über die Höhepunkte der Filmfestspiele geben wollen, haben wir alle drei Filmemacher getroffen. Sie haben eines gemeinsam: Sie folgen nicht den Spielregeln des Genre-Kinos, sondern gehen ganz eigene Wege. Das würde sicherlich auch unserem Titelhelden Leonardo DiCaprio gefallen, der in Martin Scorseses düsterem Thriller "Shutter Island" als schizophrener Cop antritt und auch sonst kein Mann für Kompromisse ist. Im Gespräch mit tip-Autor Roland Huschke verriet er, dass es sein Ehrgeiz sei, etwas zu erschaffen, das man für zukünftige Generationen in eine Zeitkapsel stecken könnte. Ein Leben ohne die Schauspielerei ist für ihn unvorstellbar: "Ich weiß nur, dass ich selbst dann nichts anders machen werde, wenn mich kein Regisseur der Welt mehr anheuern will. Dann drehe ich halt mit meinen Freunden privat und ohne Geld Filme."

The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year—the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one they tell their stories to Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life. Among the candidates are the aging theatre cat, Gus; the rocker, Rum Tum Tugger; and the once-glamorous Grizabella, now but a faded memory of her former self.
Boasting a score that includes Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats, Mr. Mistoffelees and Memory, this compelling fable takes audiences to a fantastical world that can only exist in the theatre. Cats has been performed worldwide and translated into over 20 languages. The original West End production ran for 21 years and the original Broadway production ran for 18 years

Yep I mentioned it three times.
When shooting a model always remember that you can have the best technique in the world and the best location in the world but if the model doesn't "perform" you still have an ok shot at best.
If you have a great expression from a model, you sometimes ..... Well don't need more.
So work that expression.

A day when moths have presented themselves to me. First a Mint Moth found, not surprisingly on the Catmint, then a Buff-Tip Moth found on the front door whose camouflage is to look like a birch twig. Finally a Large Yellow Underwing landed on the fly curtain on the conservatory door. Unfortunately this kept blowing about so not as sharp as I'd like.

Bandages are now a daily part of my life. I like to use small tessarae in my mosaics and tweezers are indispensible. Dental tools have all sorts of uses: picking grout out of the interstices, moving small tiles into a tight spot, scraping glue and grout, etc. They come in all shapes and sizes. I have my favorites of course, but I can't help wondering how a dentist uses some of these tools. They twist and turn so much.
