This is the first Orange-tip butterfly I've see this year, resting on a Pheasant's Eye (?) Narcissus. Taken at Brodsworth Hall garden earlier this month.
I posted another shot of this butterfly with it's wings closed at about 4pm (UK) yesterday and since then (over 22 hours ago) it's received very few views (just 12, at the moment), so I'm not sure if everyone can see it. Others have reported this sort of issue and I have seen it myself on previous occasions, so I've reported this to Flickr (as suggested on the help forum thread). I've left the original there to allow them to investigate. Please let me know if you can see the previous image too.
Unfortunately fly tipping has increased in the countryside during the covid period. Scum staining our countryside and driving farmers nuts!

First Orange-tip I have managed to photograph so far this year, though they are now starting to appear in greater numbers.

For some reason, the Exif data was incorrect. It looks like it pulled data from one of the textures because I don't even own a Canon. And, these pix were all shot 5 Febr 2013, but the date was showing up as 2008. I was able to correct the date, but not the type of camera. Fwiw, all of the pix were shot with a Panasonic DMC - GF5 Lumix micro 4/3.
2 aperture settings _f/3.5 & f/5.6 in these pix

I was desperately trying to find something to photograph today as I'm doing a 365 project. Settled on my pen pot.
On Washington Island at the tip of Door County Wisconsin can be found a beautiful Scandinavian Stave Church nestled in the woods fronted by colorful flowers. It was based on a 12th century Stavkirke in Borglund, Norway.
White-tipped Dove was another Texas specialty I wanted to find on my research trips there over the last couple months.
There was some sun when I set off for my usual walk and I saw a few butterflies on the roadside as I headed for the reserve. However by the time I got there it was overcast, so I headed back.
This was one of those seen - all were either female orange tips or other whites.

Late May to July. Widespread and frequent throughout Britain, although more local in Scotland. An unmistakable moth which closely resembles a twig from a Silver Birch when at rest.
When at rest, the wings are held almost vertically against the body with two buff areas at the front of the thorax and at the tips of the forewings which look very like the pale wood of the birch. The rest of the wings are the same mottled grey colour of the birch bark.
Occasionally the adults can be found resting in the day on a twig or the ground. They fly at night and comes to light, usually after midnight.
A few miles from my Morning Glory Chinle site, along the same cliffs, I found another location where a blue layer meets brown and red. It's not as scenic as the former but still intriguing.
Because it is near a railroad line, I call it the Railroad Blues.
I spotted this Orange Tip butterfly on the drive at Yeldall Manor and had to chase round after it for a few minutes before it decided to rest for a moment... Near Hare Hatch, Berkshire, UK.
