A male Orange Tip was fluttering around the front garden this afternoon. I have rarely managed to get this close to these timid creatures. It sat obligingly while I blasted away with the camera. It is certainly late out, having survived a prolonged winter.

I have no idea what this lorry was tipping but it was clearly either empty, or the contents were very stuck! The bit that struck me as strangest was there was nobody in sight! As far as I could see, the driver had tipped up the back of the lorry and then gone for a cuppa!

The tipping ceremony on our final morning. Early on it was clear that Dave was our group leader. He gave his speech in Swahili to the delight of our guides and porters. The tipping ceremony is a tradition on the mountain where the hikers thank the staff and hand out well-earned tips to all. After, the staff sing a song for the hikers.
Here's a macro to better show what these things look like. I believe the fat tip on the left of the screen is the growing tip, while the two thinner ones on the right are stems with tightly curled-up leaves on the end.

What a relaxing day! Went to school for three periods, talked to my counselor about the class I need to add, went to the police station with Nathan, bought food, and worked out. Mr. Christensen told me he believed I could succeed in a big public university because of my character… made me feel good.
I tried to get my free helmet but Officer Hammet wasn’t at the office. So we went back and I threw Nathan’s bacon and eggs out of our moving car. Funnn.
I just started to read this book by Malcolm Gladwell, called “The Tipping Point.” It’s quite fascinating and it tries to explain how epidemics start, such as new fashions, sicknesses, and society’s problems. I feel like I will have a better view of how the world works and how such a small thing can exponentially multiply into a worldwide outbreak.
I benched 165 pounds 7, 7, and then 6 times today, so I’m pretty happy with that. I also did air alert with Rajeev and Leo.
I’m planning on attending the picket at Gunn by the Westboro Church. Those assholes are coming in tomorrow from 7:25 until 7:55 in the morning, so I’ll take a few shots of them.
