It's a TinyWorld!

Photographed over the Ashokan Reservoir in New Paltz, New York, using a drone and processed into a “little planet” projection. This effect comes from stitching a full 360° panoramic sphere and remapping it into a stereographic projection. The result is a miniature planet surrounded by sky, with the warm edge of sunset shaping the horizon. It's done automatically by DJI in the Panorama setting.

The key to making this work is shooting a full pano set with consistent exposure. The sun sits low on the right, so I exposed for the brightest part of the sky to keep color transitions smooth and avoid blown highlights. The reservoir’s dark center naturally becomes the “core” of the planet. Slight horizon warping is expected - embrace it, because it gives the image its surreal globe feel.

• Shoot a full spherical panorama (42 frames) for smoother stitching.

• Use stereographic projection in post to create the miniature-planet look.

• Keep the sun near the edge of the frame for stronger curvature and drama.
