Again, the papers jump up from the table and flutter wildly, some slip to the floor. Tiny Edward Saturday sees a scatter of dandelion seeds rush through the air in front of his face. Each time it happens, the buffet pushes him backwards. Not far, just about the length of a lozenge. There is an explanation for this phenomena, and it is this: recently while folding his astronomical handkerchief in a meddling kind of way, Tiny has created a black hole nostril, and sneezes are arriving, accelerated from noses that are forwards in history.

Thrown through the window of the Bundelkand Rajah, the wonderful 'it' has arrived. "I like it. I dont know what it is, or where or how either, and i like it all the same" thought Tiny Edward Saturday all to himself. When he gets an inkling of a like that is similar to this like, (usually the like is a 2 o'clock like), then he can often say "I like it" straight away. Such is the decisiveness of the tremendous personal preference that Tiny can call upon in times, typically mid-afternoon times, such as these. You might say there are many terrific reasons to feel positively inclined towards it, and on another day Tiny Edward Saturday would elaborate in detail. But now is not the time to waffle on and on about liking stuff, is it?

He has a method, of course he does. However, Tiny's method is not of his own devising. It took no less than 6 years training from the sock transforming spirit known as The Shrouded High Steward and his Voluminous Festschrift. A serious undertaking by anybody's standards. During his studies Tiny was only permitted to talk or think about socks. Months were devoted to blindfolded sock taste tests. Sock songs were sung, toe-nails were measured and maintained with honour and a light heart. His teacher used 'learning without learning' and sure enough, on the morning of the two thousand one hundred and ninetienth day, Tiny Edward Saturday knew socks.

Mooching behind the mysterious Raisin is the Tiny Edward Saturday, also mooching. He is deep into his 'follow that man' mission. Tiny looks resplendent with his waxed moustache (well understood to be the most facile element of disguise). One of them has started whistling from a selection of Harry Lime's "Happy Harry Themes". Suddenly, and quite deliberately, El Raisin stops. He waits outside the Excelsior Turf Bureau, just at that moment the coincidental postman steps out. Tiny gasps as he overhears an unheard-of suggestion which clearly cannot lie within reason. But possibly close behind it.

Encased within the sphere's clear walls,

A miniature world, where twilight falls.

Turrets and spires in silhouette stand,

A tiny village, grand and grand.

Glowing windows, a mosaic of light,

A beacon of warmth against the night.

Trees stand guard, in this realm so small,

A testament to the beauty of the all.

Fog rolls in, a mystical tide,

Shrouding the village where secrets abide.

The crystal sphere, a world apart,

Holds a civilization, a work of art.

This orb of magic, upon the stand,

Captures a story, not yet spanned.

A world within a world, so still,

Alive with dreams that time can't kill.

Let your imagination take the flight,

Through the glass, into the night.

A village sleeps, yet lives in fame,

Within the sphere, a captured flame.

So peer inside, and you may find,

A reflection of your own heart and mind.

For in this globe, the enigma lies,

A miniature world, under the vast skies.

Explore your own path - get off the beaten trails

In some ways there is no difference, but for those other occasions we have an expert on hand: the mostly available mister Double-But Mulrooney. He has check boxes for (used) party poppers, and fills in graphs to track pigeon attention. Pigeons, as any fool knows, are inseparably connected to park benches, one might even say they complete a good bench. Recently mister But has constructed a matrix of broken data mist - illustrated throughout in full half-tone. It promises to be an essentially unreliable read. Something remarkable has come to Double-But's attention: some benches contain no trace of Tiny Edward Saturday, and therefore we cannot write any stories about them.

In his constant struggle to maintain efficient beard growth for sagacious stroking (the Tiny beard covers his whole body and he makes it silky when he sleeps), he is happy to push himself to achieve feats. Recently this has drawn him to the whimsical world of competitive dreaming. Today he will undertake a snoozing duel with the champion Easygoing Chiba. This aloof and hard to find cat can slumber each of his many eyes independently. But Tiny is no snorey slouch either, he has learned to control the relative gravity of his forehead, causing his head to droop and his eyelids to gain density. The walk is relaxing and the pavement is tiring. Tiny Edward Saturday falls fast asleep and flies into a formidable hypnogogic shapeshifting trance.

Imagine if you suddenly discovered a trapdoor in your room, embroidered with a saxophone. Tiny Edward Saturday was presented with this tremendous surprise, he grasped it firmly and with pleasure. Taking a look in the unexpected basement he found a marvellous box. This container was marked Wang Components and it blinked all over. Tiny knew an opportunity when he saw one and, wisely, he stored all his triangular words inside this retro-technical container, so they couldn't escape.

Patiently, the tiny feet of Tiny Edward Saturday tip-tapped through all the western towns, before he peered through the window of his new favourite restaurant. The menu only contains one entry. Its not a pudding, its not a soup, its not a meal at all. This restaurant simply serves a most incredible condiment: Hazy Vinegar. Just a dash and the diner will float, a little, but watch out if you see a fish because that could make you trip back up. Tiny saw there was a considerable wait for a table but you cannot turn a Saturday away from his true intention. Tiny made a booking, a table for one, and a very pleasant surprise for when he has forgotten.

Tiny Edward Saturday is conducting a map test, and today his map takes him to Ripplewood Falls. An eccentric hotel no doubt, and naturally Tiny asked for the oddest room. Luckily for him he was speaking directly to the owner - Pope Tawadros II, and fortunately for him, they instantly became great friends. The Pope took him upstairs, whereupon an unexpected steeply rising up-ticking could be heard. 'Please excuse my WITCH pulse generator'. 'No problem at all' said Tiny and he settled into his room. He soon found the joke soap and started the blurry-hand dance. Another map test passed.

Seriously though, you can see stuff that is a really long way away using eyes. Tiny Edward Saturday chose to have 2 eyes because he loves them that much. The eyes he selected are amongst the toughest to control of all his seven senses. They draw light into themselves with such a terrific hunger that should he forget his eye training and fail to exercise the correct muscular control that they require, then Tiny's eyes have the power to turn a brightly lit room into a mystery of shadows, and a shadowy room might just disappear altogether.

The guest star of this tale is Prince Myshkin, a boy who exists in the rest of the universe where Tiny Edward Saturday is not. Myshkin heard some really curious noises from afar. His curiosity knows no limits and accepts no substitutes, so he climbed over the horizon to take a look. He found a circle of Nabobs, blowing trumpets and feasting. "Whats up?" asks the Prince. "Please be aware that what we are about to reveal can only be used on the dark side of the world. Look very closely and you will find section 4 in the Policy Manual will perhaps plainly state policy". "Awesome" says Prince Myshkin.

Many many times Tiny Edward Saturday has said to himself - I'd really like a van. It turns out there is already a marvellous van in his life and it belongs to Tiny Tony Fernando and his Family of Fools. These two Tinys worked together in the seventies at the Institute for High Speed Shrinking Scrutinies, and the van in question is actually an entire travelling village for tinies. Inside you will find a swimming pool, a library, and a marshmallow inflator - all the essentials for harmonious motorised living. Many great tiny people call this van their home, but none ever wonder why the driving seat looks empty.

Underneath a sky that is doubtless and shimmery blue, Tiny Edward Saturday is following the Archimandrite. This excellent man stops every few steps to leave an imperceptible dainty in a sandy hollow. Behind him, as Tiny wanders over particles, his mind wanders over particulars. Specifically he ponders 'does five really equal six?'. Later he finds his wonders have brought him home to 74 The Quay, and the Archimandrite finds his messages written into the sand dunes - 'Beats Me' they say, and he smiles after another fresh day of fun.

One brother delivers the beginnings, one brother delivers the middles, and the last delivers the ends. Alexandir and his identical postal team-mates And and Albert sauntered purposefully down Nowhere Lane with the post bags. Earlier that week Tiny Edward Saturday had placed his mail order shopping order, returning the coupon from the back of his one magazine. "Mind Cosmology - Over 100 ready-to-use Mystic Chants", Tiny wasnt interested in mysticism but he loved books with numbers in the title. Nothing was delivered to Tiny Edward Saturday that morning, because he doesnt live on Nowhere Lane, he lives in Somewhere Close. And besides, everyone in Nowhere Lane chants all the time anyway already.

After a fortnight of humming and general tinkering, Tiny Edward Saturday can now sit back and admire his creation. An Ivy leaf hull, two Daisy engines, and a Peony petal parasol. Oh yes, Tiny was drifting along in the finest leafship ever seen on these waters. Gazing up at the sheer white mountain range that surrounds him, Tiny was struck by how unexpected the giant steel spoon was, splashing and plunging beside him. And indeed he was very nearly struck by the spoon too. So, it would seem that the drifting of Tiny has become the discovery, and the making, of a cup of tea.
