This tiny house on wheels was located on a camp site in Winslow Memorial Park in South Freeport, Maine.

The small house movement is a return to houses of less than 1,000 sq ft (93 m2). Frequently the distinction is made between small (between 400 sq ft (37 m2) and 1,000 sq ft (93 m2)), and smaller tiny houses with some as small as 80 sq ft (7.4 m2). Sarah Susanka has been credited with starting the recent countermovement toward smaller houses when she published The Not So Big House (1997). Tiny houses on wheels were popularized by Jay Shafer who designed and lived in a 96 sq ft house and later went on to offer the first plans for tiny houses on wheels, initially founding Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. The things you find when you decide to leave the expressway in the middle of your trip! I've driven a hundred times between Toronto and Niagara Falls, but never knew about these totally cute cottages in the town of Grimsby. As the story goes, this cluster of lake front gingerbread cottages was part of a Methodist Summer camp in the mid to late 1800s. The cottages are now private homes. Coincidentally (or not), .those famous colourful cottages of Oak Bluffs in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, were also part of a Methodist Summer camp. I haven't found an explanation for this yet, but, being so terribly curious, I certainly will.

I have photographed some of these houses and buildings before, but I wanted to update my photos and play with the tiny trees a little. ;)

In a comment about my Tiny Houses, jodieflowers suggested they'd look good with legs...lightbulb moment! Why not make the legs removable?!

Thanks for the inspiration jodie, I hope you and your Tiny House with earrings live happily ever after. ( ;

I left links to this set in the comments.

This tiny house located along US 41N in Palmetto, FL was built and occupied before they became popular. It is about the size of a one car garage and has no sleeping loft.

The goat shepherds live in the tiny house and take it with them when they move to the next location.
