LUCKY ME! As a member of HEC's Hot and Elegant group, I won one of their many giveaway contests today and walked away with this FAB new dress. It's tintable, so the color options are endless and I control the transparency and glow, meaning this little baby can go from a semi sheer nightie to a jaw-dropper club dress in a couple of clicks! Today I was feeling kind of girlie and retro, so here's the first pic...

Bit of fun with the colour gels.
Grasshoppers can be found throughout Philippines in gardens, fields, woodlands, and basically any other area with vegetation. Because they can live and travel to a variety of areas in search of food, they can be difficult to control. They make holes in the tissue of the plant as well as the leaves. Fruits may look as if they are not developing correctly.
They're sort of a pair and so I may as well publish them at the same time. I processed the other shot in colour to get the tonal ranges that I wanted in the shot and then moved over to Silver Efex Pro. I applied some colour filter to soften the horizon and then used a U-point just to take a last bit of structure away from the water. I have also adjusted the crop using a combination of both the golden spiral and the golden ratio. Finally I played around with the tint, thinking I'd go blue to start off with, but then settling on a yellow which I tweaked a little.
It's shots like this that I feel would be better suited by a super sharp lens. I open these up and they are soft a 1:1 which bugs me slightly. All through processing I am fighting not to let the softness creep in an dominate, whilst also trying to ensure that I don't over sharpen to compensate. I think I may have pushed this one a little too far. What I'm getting to is: am I doing something wrong or is the softness (slight fuzziness in fact) coming from the lens? Tips from the technical masters would be much appreciated.....

RPPC. There are several chickens at the side of the house, near the steps. Photo by CE Pearson, Wanamingo, Minnesota. He worked there from 1909-1910. It's difficult to see, but there's a nice starburst detail above the upstairs windows.
