Times square, New York City.

Shot using poor cell-phone type camera, 3 years back, when I didnt even know what the hack is Manhattan Henge !

--------------------

It used to be my daily way back home.

From Grand Central to TimesSquare..and then back home.

This was the time when I didn't know that camera is (going to be) my passion !

(so I had no good camera, not even good point and shoot !)

It was peak of recession. (working harder till 8 pm, lol !)

And shining light was setting right besides time square's Hilton theaters.

It was sun.

Right in middle of street.

I sneaked on middle of road,

took my iPhone out,

the cab drivers respected my act-of-manners,

And 2 MB resolution image was clicked !

Just yesterday, I met hunderds of photo enthusiasts, in middle of road, with their gears and tripods, trying to get a glimpse of setting sun over empire states..but all failed.

(that freaking cloud !!)

I bet it wasnt manhattanHenge that day - or atleast - no body knew it back then :)

Interested in astronomy?

What is ManhattanHenge festival?!!

This is when sun sets right in middle of manhattan street, creating fantastic festival for eyes !

Happens twice a year.

With moon, and with sun :)

Wiki can explain it better...

I went to my first K-POP concert in New York ( yes I am a K-pop fan guilty as charge). I went to see EXO. I saw 2 members out of 9 in Times Square at the exact spot i took the picture. Out of all the places i could've met them, it was at the red stairs.

Along with people dressed as Disney characters

and Superheroes looking for tips to be in tourist photos

were these two young women dressed for warm weather.

Times Square, New York City

[Mournful Guitar music…Very clear soprano voice sings, hitting every note.]

“There is a place in London–town

Where that Railroad Boy

Goes and sits down.

He takes a …”

Ringmaster, interrupting: But Wait!!

[Mournful Guitar music screeches to a halt. Sounds of spruce guitar bodies smashing.]

[Very loud marching band music plays Sousa’s immortal masterpiece, Stars and Stripes Forever…Somewhere, raucous voices sing: ”Be kind to your web-footed friends, for a duck may be somebody’s mother…”]

Ringmaster: That’s right! A duck may be somebody’s mother, and what’s more, you can probably find her right down here in Times Square in New York City. Times Square is the greatest thoroughfare in the Entire World! Everyone knows about it, and Everyone passes by. It’s a pah-rade!

Everyday - rain, snow or sunshine, this homeless man preaches the Bible near Times Square.

Spoiler: It's a zionist conspiracy that started with Woodrow Wilson.

I photographed this around '74 on my Zeiss Ikon Contessa rangefinder on Kodachrome slide film. It sure looks a lot different down there now. Its starting to look like Blade Runner.

The smoking sign in Times Square blew about 1,000 rings a day; a steam-producing box, located behind the head of the man in the sign, created the rings.

The Winston sign had replaced the Camel sign, which operated from 1941 to 1966 on Broadway between Forty-third and Forty-fourth Streets.
