The curves on this torso must have presented quite a challenge for the artist covering them with half-inch tiles.

The surface is a tile. It is made from ceramic materials. I like the colour of the tile. The texture is smooth and the shades of white on the tiles have been created through dirt and dust. The tile was located in a shop entrance, when the tile is bought by a person and laid down it's smooth texture will change due to movement of feet.

I loved all the tiles covering the front of the houses.

Maker Stephanie Tudor taught participants to make beautiful Jesmonite tiles which incorporated reclaimed materials. The group learned the basics of the casting and moulding processes, integrating reclaimed or natural elements, and finally sanding the tiles back to expose the beautiful textures within.

The North Valley home, tiled inside and out by artist Beverly Magennis, is the big draw for the Albuquirky house tour. Inside, surfaces are mosaiced with pennies, matches, golf balls, yardsticks, bottlecaps, even cereal boxes, to surprisingly pleasing effect. No photography was allowed on the premises, so I had to content myself with these shots from outside the fence.

I think this is a Batchelder tile. I'm not sure the ones in the walk are, though.

Edit: I later found out this was Batchelder's own house. So it's very likely the tiles in the walk are his as well.
