On August 9th, Charity and I went to the Southwick Zoo in Mendon. It was a pleasent day. Closer to the end of the day, the big animals started to wake up and move around, especilly the tigers.
A tiger cub rests against his mother at Toronto Zoo. I think this cub is Jack, who is no longer at the zoo, sadly.
A tiger eats a live chicken (which tourists can purchase for CNY 60) at the Siberian Tiger Park - Harbin, China.
Tiger fell from 8-storey high building but miraculously he survived with a few broken limbs, almost losing a leg, he was warded 2 nights in the hospital. Even though he still denies food, the doctor permitted my friend to bring him home on the third day. Tiger was jiggling merrily with 3 casted legs, parts of shaven fur and a disfigured face in the bedroom, he was probably happy after nights of being caged and monitored by strangers.
But what came after Tiger shortly was slow and painful. My friend returned from school at night and found Tiger laying down looking lifeless, he was immediately brought back to the hospital. The doctor diagnosed that he could be suffering from internal injuries, and there was an infection on his tougue as well, thus a lost in appetite. He was having a fever and had become very weak due to food deficiency. Two nights after, Tiger died, and Death wasn’t easy on him, he struggled. Tiger was 3.5 years old.
I remember nanny-ing Tiger when my friend had lunch. He layed obediently on my lap while I did my work. He purred when I rubbed the neck, gave me his signature wide-eyed look every now and then. And that was when I thought I should snap some photos of him. He actually ran to me wanting more affectionate neck-rubs when he was carried away by his owner and it was then I decided that DAMN, I am really fond of this cat…
While we mourn what we have lost, we celebrate what we had… and in saying goodbye, we renew our pledge to love and care for any creature nature has entrust to us for its time of life.
