It's been three years since Steve and I last visited Thailand on our Circumnavacation. My dad has visited on business before, but this was strictly vacation. The four of us (including my mom) visited Bangkok, Krabi (Ao Nang), and Koh Lanta. We ate tons of good food, climbed a LOT, saw a lot of temples, and enjoyed some unforgettable Thailand sunsets.

Monkeys at Tiger Cave Temple, Krabi, Thailand

one of two stray dogs I seen at the top of Wat Tham Suea (Tiger Cave Temple) in Krabi.

Who knows how long these dogs have been up here, or how old they are (Neither looked particularly good, with mange, sores, the hot sun heat, etc.)

But due to the shape of the mountain and area, it was very likely that these dogs are stuck up here and will never make it down, at least by themselves.

On my second ascent, I and a friend stopped into a rather expensive little mart at the bottom, and picked up a couple cans of fish for them, (Which ironically were still cheap, about a dollar or so each), and found a spot in our packs to bring up..

They scarfed them down instantaneously and actually snarled at each other in the moment. We filled the empty tins with a bit of water a couple times and went back to the view.

The images aren't particularly good but they're the only ones I got! (and somehow snuck out of my album)

This series of photographs was taken during my trip to this Tiger Cave Buddhist Temple on 12 to 14 June, 2009. It is a Buddhist Temple built on the side of a huge limestone hill with a cave which wild tigers used to use as their lair,

Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Sua)

WAT THAM SUA

Inside the cave there are what appear to be tiger paw prints in the stone.

The surrounding area is covered with large trees hundreds of years old, particularly in the Khiriwong Valley. Mountains are on all sides and there are smallers caves in great number.

Aside from being the site of a meditation center, it is also a places of archaeological and historical interest. Stone tools, pottery remains, and the mold for making Buddha footprints have been found in excavations. Tiger Cave temple, also known as Wat Tham Sua, is located near Krabi Town in southern Thailand.

Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Sua)

Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Sua)

Tiger cave temple or otherwise known as Wat Tham Suea is around 9 km away from Krabi Town. The story goes to a Buddhist monk, Jumnean Seelasettho who wanted to meditate in the caves in the 1960s and at that time, he saw tigers roaming around. Hence the name Tiger Cave Temple.
