Peace and tranquility prevaled on the Tidal Basin this morning, but don't be lulled. Washington DC, where DC now stands for Divided Congress, and Taxation Without Representation is no longer held within the boundaries of DC. Don't let up. Contact your elected officials. Let them know that you are angry. Let them know that you demand representation!
I thought it apropos to quote Jefferson "Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." Nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. 45, Conjob, Handjob and Spice Rack all come to mind.
And one more
"A Bill of Rights is what the people are entitled to against every government, and what no just government should refuse, or rest on inference."

The Tidal Basin is a partially man-made reservoir between the Potomac River and the Washington Channel. It is part of West Potomac Park and is a focal point of the National Cherry Blossom Festival held each spring. The Jefferson Memorial, the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, and the George Mason Memorial are situated adjacent to the Tidal Basin. The basin covers an area of about 107 acres (43 ha) and is 10 feet (3.0 m) deep.
Last year's Cherry Blossom at Tidal Basin. I started very early in the morning to get the sunrise behind the Jefferson memorial. But was not lucky at all. Sun rays tried to peep through deep layers of clouds, and the wind never stopped shaking the branches. So long story short, long exposures didn't bring decent pictures.
Anyway, the beauty of the full bloom was there though the cold was bone chilling.
Waiting for this year's bloom now...

The golden arches of the Rossie Viaduct strike a definitive course across the perimeter of the Montrose Tidal Basin and I really should have taken some photos of it long before now due to how many times I've been to Montrose in recent years. I'd imagine there's a real winner of a shot to be had here when the tide is in and the sun is slightly higher in the sky.
What always struck me about this section of railway when I first took the train to Aberdeen is that it's only single track, making the approach to Montrose the only section of single track line between London and Aberdeen. The first time I took the train, we came to halt in the middle of nowhere and I couldn't work out why until a train passed us heading in the other direction. Despite this section of line causing a headache for timetable planners, it provides an excellent approach to the best town in Angus (although admittedly, I only really like it because of all the interesting bridges).

Speaking of fall colors still hanging around! Heart eye emoji! (P.S. Is it weird that I say what the emoji is instead of actually using the emoji? HAHA) One of my favorite places to go to for fall colors in Washington DC area is the Tidal Basin.. bit.ly/2AjTZGg

As our priest always wish that be it Christmas everyday!

I took this image in September of 2016. You would think that I go to the Tidal Basin so often to take sunrise images that I’d forget what it was like capturing this particular image from over a year ago, but I don’t. A day like this is sort of hard to forget. I remember exactly what it was like. The morning was absolutely gorgeous. I had been walking along the side of the Tidal Basin just snapping away and shooting the sunrise from all different angles. But there comes to a point when you’re just done shooting. You feel like you’ve captured THE image and you’re ready to go home. So I was walking back to my car when all of the sudden I look up and there are rays of pink bursting out of the clouds. OMG it was sooo cool. I took a few shots of it from where I was standing, but I didn’t feel like it showcased the rays like I wanted to...
