This was not apparently peak bloom but I suspect it was peak viewing. The bloom is meant to peak later this week but the temperatures are going to plummet and next weekend it will be raining. So today was probably the nicest day. Warm and without a cloud in the sky.
One of the cherry blossom trees by Washington, D.C.'s Tidal Basin had a blossom growing at the base of its trunk. The bunch of blossoms made for the perfect subject, as they were within arm's reach and had the nicely textured tree's trunk as a background. This picture is taken looking up the trunk of the tree.
By the end of March, 2018, cherry blossoms still have not started blooming along Tidal Basin area yet. I saw clam water making perfect reflection of Jefferson Memorial in early morning during high tide period with side walk submerged.
It was my first visit to Washington DC specially for cherry blossom, There are wonderful pinkish trees on lake side. It was too crowded as it was peak bloom weekend. I was so amaze to see the color combination of blue sky and pink trees.

The temperature this morning was 12℉ with wind chill of -4F. I was only one taking pictures today of the Jefferson Memorial at the Tidal basin in Washington DC. The ice was amazing the snow was left from the day before.
MUCH OF MY TRAVEL is by subway, so I'm sometimes slow catching on to how things are situated relative to each other on the surface. Much to my delight, when I took my camera out for a walk in my neighborhood yesterday, I found out that the Jefferson Memorial is, oh, maybe four blocks down the street... so, I spent the afternoon sightseeing.
