Dalmore as described in a previous image is a special place. It is also very beautiful and has powerful rip currents at different times and tide heights. The beach is beautiful and very often deserted. I dodged very heavy, thundery downpours which created a special drama to an already stunning place.
Every time the tide goes out at Ligar Bay there are new and unique photo opportunities. When it coincides with a great sunset, all the better!
This shot was taken on a tripod with the lens about 1 foot above ground level.
Tag on tidal recording station with the ‘Folly’ on the left . (When the riverside walk was built in 1996 provision for lifting boats onto the river had to be met, never to be used)
Saline tidal marshes are not visible during high tide, but as the tide recedes, it uncovers a lush vibrant marsh of Spartina (a tall cordgrass), which is brilliant green in Spring and Summer, and brilliant orange in Fall.
Yet another example of Nature’s daily works of art❤️
Photographed at Port Royal Sound, Hilton Head Island, SC, USA
MANY THANKS FOR YOUR VISITS COMMENTS AND FAVES
THEY ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!
It has been a while since I've ventured into this playground and have missed you all. I did shoot some new material, but had not much chance to process it yet, so thought will share with you a somewhat familiar scene if from a slightly different angle.
Tech info: Nikon D750, f/11, Nikon 24-120mm f/4 @ 120mm, 1/20 seconds (was quite challenging), ISO 100
Have a great rest of the week!
This is a photo of the dancing patterns of evening light reflecting and refracting on the different layers of a tidal pool at Cape Forchu. The pool has taken on the colour of jade in the evening light, and amidst the optical distortions of the undulating water, the rocks seem to swim like fish.

Sunrise Winterton on Sea, Norfolk. The pre dawn light reflected on tidal pools creating an interesting subject for a bit of ICM.
A 7exp hdr taken at Long Beach Island, NJ. A special thanks to Jeff Mason for taking me to this amazing place. Check out some of Jeff's nautical treasures HERE.
I do like this photo, it captures the day for me. After a disappointing sunrise I walked a mile along the beach into the estuary until I could go no further. At the water’s edge it was like quicksand and my wellies soon started to disappear. The tidal landscape around me was amazing, I quickly back tracked to safer ground and set up the tripod. The sand has been shaped by the outgoing tide to remain until the sea returns. It was an hour from low ebb and I intended to hang around the bay until the sea cleaned this canvas like the return sweep of a child’s sketching toy.
I was able to get many shots at the tidal gate at Bolsa Chica. And I intend to return. So you will see many Terns in my photostream!
