Some wicked thunderstorms hit us last night and lasted for quite a while. I got this long exposure with these odd light streaks. Things falling from the sky? Electrical charges? I have no idea...
el dorado hills, ca ... we only get a couple of these thunderstorm days each year, so i was definitely ready for this one.

The last of a set of thunderstorms that rolled through the Bay Area was moving away dumping it's rain on the San Francisco Peninsula across the bay to the west. A FedEx plane was finally able to land at the Oakland Airport a half-mile off to the left.

We have been having a lot of thunderstorms, which terrify Kailey. Here she is, between me and the back of the sofa, which is as comfortable as she gets during a storm.
I had to drive thru a crazy Texas thunderstorm this morning, the lightning was bouncing all over the highway and I couldn’t see three feet in front of the car. Finally I got way ahead of the main cell of the storm and stopped to try and get some lightning shots. It was very difficult as the storm was randomly dropping major rain and hail and I had to hide under the canopy of a gas station several times. I then was able to take this shot of a bolt of lightning coming down from the clouds… Cool stuff!!!

Thunderstorm. Four-minute exposure. Taken with my 1904 No. 2 Folding Brownie Model A. Looks like it's having problems focusing, so that's something I'll need to address. I was especially excited to see this one... so it sucks to see that it didn't turn out.
While we were at the Reunification Palace, there was a storm of truly biblical proportions. We camped out in what had been the roof-top "party room" during the time that the President of South Vietnam lived here. We statyed there and hunkered down and watched the lightening and listened to the loud banging thunder while rain sometimes blew inside. Random violent thunderstorms seem to be a feature here. Most people carry ponchos for this reason. We were smart. We carried ponchos. And we used them.
Took this in the early evening as a thunderstorm was approaching from the north going south. Usually storms in my area come from the west and go north or east The cloud got in front of the sun and made these beautiful rays. I ran in the house and grabbed my camera!
