Pizzo Andolla, Portjengrat in German, 3654m.

View from SE, the summit is the second pinnacle from the left. The great pillar in the center of the image is one of the more important mountaineering route of the area.

Took this shot approaching the small mountain hut “Bivacco città di Varese.” Along the path, I found a crossroad for the trail that leads to the basis of the mountaineering route to the summit of this mountain. Standing in front of that sign, painted on a large flat rock, I realized that I had already been walking for two hours and an half to reach that point, and that to get on the summit of Andolla, along the complex mountaineering route of the Italian side, It might took other eight hours of walking and climbing. Well, to climb Andolla was not in my intentions, but that consideration helped me to realize the dimensions and the severity of this mountain. I could not avoid thinking of the people that climbed this mountain for the very first time, more than one hundred years ago, with ridiculous technical equipment, no helicopters for the rescue, no paved road in the valley below. What an adventure.

A lot of people think that progress has opened new doors to mankind, but, in a certain way, I think it closed a lot of opportunities to see and discover the world and ourselves with a sense of wonder.

To be sincere, I have to admit that, at the beginning of the last century, few people had a car and the possibility to travel here and hike in a single day…. but a long and slow travel can be an ooportunity of another kind…

If you have been reading this till the end, well, excuse me for bothering you 

Welcome to the Royal Throne Room in LEGO Kingdom. Sitting on two beautifully decorated thrones, the King and Queen have summoned the court jester to entertain them.

Taken with a Fujifilm X-E3 with a Fujifilm 10-24mm f4 lens.

The view of Sam's Throne, in the Ozark National Forest in northern Arkansas. Sam's Throne was actually named after someone named Sam Davis. According to legend, back in the 1820s Sam claimed that his sister had been kidnapped. In his anger, he would climb out onto this rocky outcrop and give fiery sermons to all his neighbors within earshot. Legend also states that Sam also buried some gold on Sam's Throne, although nothing has ever been found in the years since (that we know of).

Perfect for that royal setting this throne contains lots of animations.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with this pic, but it makes a hell of a title. Here's three thrones, each with a different look. Got back into Game of Thrones over the weekend, finally got around to watching Season 6 and it inspired me to make these three.

The Salt Throne - The sea people (the Greyjoys?) in GoT kept banging on about the Salt throne, which gave me an idea for a throne made entirely out of salt....as you do. Over the years it's been worn away, and the left is almost gone.

The Coral Throne - My favourite of the bunch tbh, this Throne does pretty much what it says on the tine, it's made of coral and Whale bone. I imagine the basic structure was made of bone, decorated with a starfish, and the Coral grew around it.

The Grey Throne - Or another name I come up with later. I built this one first, can't really think of a good name for it. It's your standard grey throne with a bit of glass at the back. I was looking at the Maul vs Ahsoka set while I built it, so it's got vibes from that throne.

And that's the three Thrones. Might do more, might not, I'll see how things go.

Eugene Von Bruechenhein created a variety of art in his home. These are some of the hundreds of detailed thrones made from discarded chicken bones.

The Throne Hall

Next to the Apadana, second largest building of the Terrace and the final edifices, is the Throne Hall or the Imperial Army's hall of honour (also called the "Hundred-Columns Palace). This 70x70 square metre hall was started by Xerxes and completed by his son Artaxerxes I by the end of the fifth century BC. Its eight stone doorways are decorated on the south and north with reliefs of throne scenes and on the east and west with scenes depicting the king in combat with monsters. Two colossal stone bulls flank the northern portico. The head of one of the bulls now resides in the Oriental Institute in Chicago.

In the beginning of Xerxes's reign, the Throne Hall was used mainly for receptions for military commanders and representatives of all the subject nations of the empire. Later the Throne Hall served as an imperial museum.

"The Throne Room was a chamber built for ceremonial purposes during the 15th century BC inside the palatial complex of Knossos, Crete, in Greece. It is found at the heart of the Bronze Age palace of Knossos, one of the main centers of the Minoan civilization and is considered the oldest throne room in Europe." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Throne_Room,_Knossos

Allah is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that ye can see; then He established Himself on the Throne (of Authority); He has subjected the sun and the moon (to His Law)! Each one runs (its course) for a term appointed. He doth regulate all affairs, explaining the Signs in detail, that ye may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord (quran 13:2)

My interpretation of the Iron Throne of Westeros from the "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels by George R. R. Martin and the HBO Original Series "Game of Thrones".

"The Iron Throne was constructed by Aegon I Targaryen, the first king of the Seven Kingdoms. Aegon the Conqueror had the throne made from the swords surrendered by his enemies. It is supposed to have taken a thousand blades to make, heated in the breath of Balerion the Black Dread. The hammering took fifty-nine days."
