After a week long of sun and higher temperatures, a lot of the snow and ice had melted along St, Christopher's Beach. Now there is open water to the shoreline.

Desk top right speaker for the computer has three cones for sound. The woofer under the desk carries the bass sounds.
Three Alaska railroad GP's prepare to load out the rest of the ARMS barge on a typical Whittier day. Cold, wet, and foggy pretty much sums up this all season port with the original military era housing standing in the background. One of the neat things about the Whittier switch stands is that they all are some how lit at the same time in this shot and no its not photoshopped. After loading is complete these three Gp's will depart under the cover of darkness for Anchorage.
I found this pretty little Grey Catbird hanging out at the birdbath with his friends. His only complaint . . . the other two don't say much :)
There were actually 5 in this group, but these three just happened to be in a line surveying activity below. A really exciting moment to be with these animals.
The German poem "The Three Sparrows" by Christian Morgenstern (see below) dates from 1921 (Era of Expressionism).
Because of copyright, I can't simply translate the poem, but the content is about the three sparrows Erich, Franz and the "cheeky" Hans, who sit in a bare hazel bush in winter.
The poem describes in impressive atmospheric density the protection and security that the three little birds can give each other in the icy cold, with Hans, who sits in the middle, he has the warmest.
Die drei Spatzen
In einem leeren Haselstrauch
Da sitzen drei Spatzen, Bauch an Bauch.
