lucky me! today a woman gave me all this threads. the best is, most of them are silk!what a great gift!

I got this sewing box full at a yard sale.

for Our Daily Challenge topic - 'Thread.'

An image I took for a challenge "Inanimate Macro". I was pretty pleased with the final result, considering I don't have an actual macro lens.

The EXIF data is somewhat deceiving, as there was a reversed 50mm 1.8 in front of the mounted lens. This gives the macro ability and only provides a very shallow DOF. I might try this one again one day with focus stacking to get a better DOF.

I noticed the single thread on the upper top of this image and the random leg. Do you see it too?

Possibly the highlight of the journey for passengers on the WHR is threading the Aberglaslyn Pass, although the view of the river is being encroached by growing trees.

The view of the train for the photographer is also suffering a similar fate as No. 138 heads for Porthmadog.

At least it's my best guess that this is a Diana Monkey… it could be a Roloway Monkey (Cercopithecus roloway), but I'm unsure. Obnoxiously Monkey Jungle don't bother to document what species they have, so I'm in part going off my own visual identification and in part a random message thread - www.zoochat.com/community/threads/monkey-jungle-miami.157... - that asserts Monkey Jungle has Diana Monkeys, but not Roloway Monkeys (though it's possible, given the age of the thread, that it pre-dates the distinction of the two as separate species').

Just a bunch of Crochet threads, I liked the colours and texture made from the bindings. Just used a load of cardboard sheets to shape the light on the backdrop and product.

I had a bit of a macroey day inspired by Macro Mondays' multicolour theme.

Taken for a "Fill the Frame" photo challenge.

I love the soft colors of hand dyed cotton materials.

A glass ampul containing virgin silk; an extremely fine ophthalmic suture material consisting of two to seven natural silk filaments bonded together by sericin, a natural adhesive. This ampul is dated 28-01-1964. The silk was held in the ampul to protect it from air and contaminants. To get to the silk, you had to snap of the neck of the ampul.

WIT

A trip to JoAnn Fabrics and some pp work

First: it was interesting to walk around in JoAnn's Fabric Store with a DSLR. But, I knew I would find something in there of interest. Actually, thread was probably the reason I went in there. It might be interesting to frame and hang in my sewing room. Anyway... Second: for some reason, the top and bottom pincushioned and I had to straighten that. Then, I didn't like all the blank space between the rows where they had their labels and stuff so I duplicated each row and pasted that it in the space below. I was amazed it fit just perfectly. Third, because of the lighting in the store, I had to do some color correction and bumped the contrast a little. That's pretty much it.

Actually, I didn't want to get a photo that was so regular. But after posting my mini pumpkins (before I thought about it) and having comments on it already, I didn't want to make you wade past them to make your critique. So, I chose something else.

Needles Eye Tunnel was a bit scary to drive through. It felt like I was threading a needle. Needles Eye Tunnel is one of three tunnels located along the Needles Highway (South Dakota Highway 87) which is part of the Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway in Custer State Park, South Dakota. At 8'4" in width and 11'3" in height, this tunnel is the narrowest of the three tunnels along this highway. In fact, it is the narrowest tunnel in the state. If you find yourself in this part of South Dakota, do yourself a favor and take the time to explore this beautiful park.

The assignment was to create a cover and spread for a magazine inspired from two distinct fashion designers. My inspiration was Valentino and Christian Lacroix.

I needed some darker red thread to finish this little project. Since it's already dark, photos will have to wait until tomorrow. These reds feel so Christmas-y to me! Even thought this project isn't at all Christmas! :)

Here are 9 more photos from our fall 2017 camping trip.

These all have a ghost town feeling, and later I will post photos of the quirky art here at Tuscarora, Nevada.

Concrete foundations on the flat below Tuscarora must have once held ore processing equipment secured on these rusty bolts. It looks like the threads didn't survive the machinery removal.

Recently I swapped some fabrics for colorful threads and zippers. My husband had to add two additional rows. And now I've got even more wonderful rainbow:)

Seen at my tailors who did some alterations for me this morning. Aren't they pretty!?

Another lovely day, so you'd think I'd photograph something to show that, but here we have a quickly snapped reel of thread, crossed processed to give it some age and a Kim Klassen texture added.....I do like having a bit of a play :)

Correction, it was a nice day, but by 3pm it had turned grey again :(

This is also for #46 "Needle" of the 114 Pictures in 2014 Scavenger Hunt.

The two carnations in the back are vintage and the one in the front is another project I've started but haven't quite finished! I found a similar pattern to the original ones in a vintage booklet so made the melon orange one in the front. My version is not as fluttery as the original, I'm not sure exactly how it's constructed without taking it apart. The instructions I've found is a pretty simple pattern and seems to help if you have variegated thread. I found some on ebay perfect for the flower size. I think it may be a modern day size 30 thread.

Carrying on with the spider's web theme this morning, a Solitary Clematis (Clematis Integrifolia) held by a single strand of web. Have a great Friday and, in here in the US, a wonderful holiday weekend!
