Weekly Animation XVIII: Fine Threads
The fine threads pattern shows that a good combination of wide and thin margins create these dramatic bold elements in the pattern. Thin margins between adjacent creases draw the viewer to their paths with strong shadow contrast. It's a fun challenge to do by hand (though I used a scoring machine for this one).

A look down a row of metal eyelets that make up a rope fence. A closeup of the end tie-off to this fence is elsewhere on my stream.

Eternal Threads is a single-player, first-person story-driven puzzle game of time manipulation, choice and consequence.

Starting to get desperate now looking for brightly coloured things around the house!
Desperation shot of buttons.
I had a nice weekend. I took a class in landscape quilts at my local quilt shop. Here are some of the threads I got together to take with.
A typical species of wildflowers with thread like petals. The one pictured was found in Upper Shimla region of Himachal Pradesh. These wildflowers are mostly found at a height more than 12000ft and are very rare at low altitudes.
I threaded the end of the bowden tube first by forcing an m7 nut over it, and then with a 1/4 x 20 die.
I wanted to use the m7 nut solution, but it compressed the tube too much for the PLA to move through it.
My 1/4 x 20 die was crappy, so it cut crappy thread. It worked much better with some PLA inside the tubing than when I was trying without. I don't have any 1/4" rod lying about- that probably would have worked better.
One of the reasons I like oriental markets is that you can find anything there. Green threads, cream threads, rubber band - what else?
Our foil-stamped, hand-bound books have arrived! Limited edition of 20. Only 1 copy left! Buy yours on common-thread.ca/monograph.
My thread collection is gradually dwindling and will need to be restocked soon. I plan on show casing these beauties in the quilting of my paint chip quilt - the quilt has 36 colors, and I have nearly that many! Hopefully, it will work out. blogged here: shecreatesanoutlet.blogspot.com/2012/06/wip-wednesday-tab...

Same basic components as all machines - from the spool on top run the thread through the top guide (notched hole on the top of the side plate), then down between the tension disks, up to the take-up lever (passing behind the guide bar) then back down to the needle (passing behind the guide bar again).
Also, because the bobbin is to the side, your needle has to be side-facing, too. On machines where the bobbin loads in front of the presser feet, the needle's eye will always face the front.
