June 12noon hour. Happy horses enjoying their lunch under the cloudy sky courtesy of Tropical Storm Blanca. The storm did bring us a little rain, not enough to cure our California Drought, though. I hope these horses have a secret pond they can go to for some water.
Thank you for your patience, my Flickr friends. I'm working on a project for my family and it will take a few months to complete, so I'll be on and off until then.

It's been a while, I've missed everyone. I hope I'm back for longer than I was away.

There are no rectangles in nature; humans created them to hold up a growing civilization. I find rectangles can feel quite jarring and unnatural. This image, in a square format, does just the opposite for me - it feels natural and beautiful.

This morning's walk included testing my Canon Rebel T3i, which was converted to a full-spectrum infrared camera back in 2021. For this oak tree image, I used a 720nm filter, 1/250 sec, f/8.0, ISO 250, EF-S 18-55mm lens at 18mm. CV25-156

Sunset at the neighborhood pond. This shot only works around the summer solstice when the sun is north enough for the sunset to be clear of the trees.
Anyhow, I've shot this lake/pond a crazy number of times. In fact, I swore off this pond at one point because I was tired of shooting it. I'm surprised I hadn't come up with this composition until now. This one worked out much better than I envisioned when I headed out with the camera.

Sunset in Platte County by our neighborhood pond and waterfall. This was a 6 shot vertical merged for panorama.
I prepared my 15 year old Canon 40D for the eclipse by taping a Thousand Oaks solar filter to the lens. I chose this camera as it's probably worth no more than £50 now, so I could afford to lose it if things went horribly wrong.
But in the event I needn't have worried as it was cloudy. Hey ho.
I think today it's going to get up to about 213° today. Now we don't have AC, so we're either going to walk around the house in our skippies, go to the mall and drink lemonade or maybe crash someone's pool. I know a few times a summer it gets ridiculously hot. Today is one of those days.
This is one of the very few Strait Out of The Camera shots I'll ever post. But, I couldn't find anything wrong with it. Sometimes, I get lucky.
