I thought and thought about images I have in the Holiday colors and subjects. No Cedar Waxwings with berries - shucks, I haven't even SEEN a Cedar Waxwing this winter. No holly and ivy, all I could think of is my bright Vermilions, just had to find one with a reasonably green background or embellishment. So here he is, wishing everyone a joyous holiday season, and good weather, light and opportunities for the New Year.

I will be away again for a week or two due to an ongoing family medical issue.
Meanwhile, here’s a gritty, grainy, black and white photo to contemplate. This normal telephoto shot is processed in an attempt to partially achieve the 'Are-Bure-Boke' aesthetic style of Daido Moriya. I skipped the excessive, heavy blur, but I did push the exposure and contrast to blow-out some of the whites and crush the blacks a little. I also added a homemade film emulsion overlay (lightly) to add some grit and increased the grain to replicate a noisy 6400 ISO to help convey some emotional and raw subjective expression. I suspect this young man is a student from Iowa State University.

Hadn't thought too much about dragonflies so had to google them. What fascinating creatures!
Wiki says Dragonflies first appeared during the Early Jurassic period, evolving from ancient insect relatives known as griffinflies, which lived around 300 million years ago. Their unique adaptations and long evolutionary history have made them some of the most efficient aerial predators today.
Watched a couple of clips and they spend large part of their lives as a nymph which, made me think of the Alien out of the Alien movies. The good part is they eats around 40 mosquito larvae a day!
I'm not going anywhere near asking if you would prefer a dragon the size of a fly (that would be so cool) or a fly the size of a dragon (that would be not cool!)

Here is another composition from Saturday morning's sunrise photoshoot... I'll admit that it's quite boring with the centered horizon and all... but somehow I still like it.
