Thought it would be interesting to see how the two Raleigh-made three-speeds compared to each other. The Rudge is smaller, 21" frame size vs. 23". The Rudge's drop-bars seem so low compared to the upright bars on the Raleigh!

Have a wonderful spring weekend!

Lontana dal mondo...

Vicina ai miei pensieri.

Far from the world ...

Close to my thoughts.

As i woke up this morning, i had my camera all set up by my bed. I had the remote under my pillow, so i decided to take a pic.

Story/Reason:

Recently, life feels so tiring, i feel so tiring, and i have lost interest in the things i had zeal for. I make less Music, Don't have the feeling of attending lectures, can't seem to get enough sleep, and the weather keeps getting messy. So i woke up this morning thinking thru life and trying to get my brain ready for the day, but i seemed depressed.

I hope this passes soon.

Thought I'd resurrect this one for Valentine.

No graphics please.

I saw this man from a distance talking with some other men and I thought: "Wow, he's great, an aged black man, with a pigtail of white hair!". But I was on the phone with my brother and I let him go. Luckily he stopped again few meters later in front of a man recycling and re-painting an old wood table. I came by and I stopped too, without saying anything. I thought it was a hard job to get a picture of him.

He said "Hi!". I said "Hi!". He smiled me saying: "We don't have to throw away things, we must recycle them! It's a fortune there are people who throw them away so we can pick them up!". I agreed with my head and a smile but didn't say anything. "What is your name?", I asked after a couple of minutes. "Ban Maharaj", he answered, "I'm a Hindu spiritual father. I belong to the Hare Krishna movement" he added. "It would be nice if I could take a portrait of you", I hazarded. "Why?", he asked. "Now comes the hardest part ...", I thought. "Because I'd like to win my shyness, and since I like photography I'd like to do that using a camera, that helps me to talk with people that I don't know. There there's a project called 100 Strangers and ...". I must have scored a hit because he stopped me saying: "It's enough, you can take the photo", but being a spiritual father used to speak a lot, he added many other things: he's native of Suriname but he's been living in Rome since 38 years, he's a master of Bakhty Yoga and he had to fight against his shyness too when he was younger because he had to speak in front of thousands of people. To do that he had to transcend the materiality of things. I'm not sure I caught the whole concept ...

Before going away he asked me if I had family: I answered I was going to pick up the kids at school, so he said: "You're a good father", and blessed me.

Thanks a lot Ban Maharaj for participating in my project! It's been touching to talk with you!

This is my wife her name is Maddie. She has blonde hair and I thought that I could make a really good high-key image with the light details of her body. The qualities that I was trying to capture with this image were the emotions on her face and also the details in her hair as well as her surroundings. I think something thought was interesting with the elements that I included in this image was the point of focus you can tell that she is looking out a window possibly looking over children’s and animals but overall just being a nurturing human being. I think just from that the content and audience is for you know an audience of motherhood nurturing caregiving and just someone who overall cares about others in the world. And that's how I see my wife Maddie because she is always doing her best for others even though they won't give the best for her. The angle of the view and background would be a side angle of her so you can see part of the window, as well as her face and you, can tell where she's looking and in the background, you would be able to see the window in the image as well. Overall I think this would probably be my best image on high key because I enjoyed it.

thought you would like to become acquainted with my wife ...

she is sitting on the left side, tier 15 ... ;-)

8 vertical captures with 24 mm - just to give a hint for the space ...

Thought I would give this whirl and wow it is a lot harder to draw than i imagined using a torch. Waited till dark and nipped round to Dunwoood Park, much to the bemused looking dog walker who kept wandering past. Bit rusty in places but something i want to give a bit of practice to.

In the depth of winter’s darkness, thoughts often drift to those we have lost. The stillness of long nights and the glow of the approaching festive season stir memories — of laughter, scents, and moments that now feel just out of reach. For many, this time brings not only celebration but also the ache of absence.

Let us take the hands of those who grieve, offering warmth, kindness, and understanding. Together, we can navigate the season’s bittersweet light and hold space for love that endures beyond loss.

Poem:

Winter nights stretch long,

And in their stillness, shadows grow.

The flicker of candles calls forth faces,

Smiles now etched in memory’s quiet glow.

The scent of pine, the warmth of spices,

Stir feelings that rise unbidden.

But in the ache, love lingers gently,

A hand extended, no longer hidden.

Through the cold, let hearts entwine,

In the embrace of shared sorrow.

For even in the longest night,

Hope whispers of a brighter morrow.

Haikus:

Winter winds whisper,

Memories wrapped in still air,

Loss blooms in soft light.

Candle’s glow trembles,

Scents of pine and cinnamon,

Echo what is gone.

Through grief’s coldest night,

Kindness lights the path forward,

Love warms every step.

being on break from school and the fact that work is basically dead right now would equal more time for photography...WRONG! We're currently moving (and let me tell you-I am BEYOND ready for that to be over.!) and life is just as busy as usual. Hence the reason it is currently 4:32am and I've yet to get a moment of shuteye....Just saying. Anyway, I have honestly not even touched my photos from the Photo Trek I took to PR Dec 8th-13. In fact, I have an ENTIRE 8 card I haven't even uploaded...Yeah. Photography fail. Anyway, I really liked this picture because these models were really stiff and trying impossibly hard to be Victoria's Secret Models/Playboy centerfolds and this was one of few candid moments! Which, of course, are my favorite! Hope everyone has a happy and SAFE New Years Eve/New Years!

I found this brilliant quote and I thought it´d be great to share it in a simple layout design :)

A snap dating from a couple of years ago ...probably the winter before last... after my renunciation of digital, but before I started doing my own developing. My films were done by a chap who advertised in the magazines, to whom, I regret to record, I still owe the sum of £3. I had sent two films at the same time and unfortunately failed to grasp that posting back two contact sheets and two Kenro archival wallets for the negatives would incur twice the usual charge for "p&p". I would have discharged the debt with my next order, you understand, but at just this point I took the plunge and started doing my own developing: our dealings were at an end.

These days my policy on photographing trains, on the rare occasions when my interest is engaged to the point of wishing to do so, is to reduce them to a minor component of the picture. So this photograph is really "about" the sodden grass, denuded branches, dripping twigs and bleak light of an afternoon in late winter, with the train serving as a focus to which the eye is drawn by the lead-in lines of the rails. It's all about composition ...not that I lay claim to any particular skill. At the time I wouldn't have rationalised the matter and probably only noticed the felicity of the composition ...if I may be so immodest as thus to describe it... after seeing the result. Another happy accident is the satisfying way those birch trunks provide just the correct degree of detail within the solid black mass on the left side of the tracks.

The Divine is present in the ordinary. Rainy, fresh air smells ...leaf mould and something oily from the tracks: the raw feel of the air against one's face and the misty look in the trees. How beautiful are even these anonymous few yards of a dull bit of country, and how well this old world suits us, though we must leave it one day.
