Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Thomas & Friends, I have decided to repair my MOC from 2018 with some minor updates on the structure and details, and give it a shot at LEGO Ideas. You can now vote for it to become an official product!
I set off to create the ultimate version of Thomas in LEGO, and I had a lot of fun creating his iconic face and capturing all the little details across the model without resorting to stickers/printing. Apart from the almost unnoticeable improvements on the train, I have added a nice railway display for it to make it look nicer as a proposed set, along with an exclusive nameplate and minifigure of The Fat Controller (aka Sir Topham Hatt), created through the dark arts of Photoshop. Thomas Carlin was the 6th Governor of Illinois. He served from 1838-1842. The statue is located on the Greene County Courthouse square in Carrollton, Illinois.
St Thomas à Becket Church in Fairfield stands alone in a field on the Marsh, surrounded by water courses and sheep. A causeway was built in 1913, and until then the church was more often than not surrounded by water during the winter and spring. The church is dedicated to St Thomas à Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1162 until his murder in 1170. Legend has it that the Archbishop was journeying across the dangerous Romney Marsh, when he fell into one of the many ditches. He prayed to St.Thomas, as he came up for the second time, for a miracle to save him from a watery death. Just in time a farmer arrived to save him, and in gratitude the Archbishop had the little church built and dedicated to St Thomas a Becket.

Redford High School was a secondary school in Detroit, Michigan. A part of Detroit Public Schools, the school opened in September 1921 and ceased operations in June 2007. it was demolished shortly after these photos were taken in 2012.
My last weekend to try and capture some of the must see monuments / memorials around the National Mall in Washington DC. The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is definitely one of those that qualifies as a must see memorial. So yesterday I arrived about an hour before sunset to scout out the best location to setup my shot. If there is one lesson I have learned from my visit to the National Mall area...... that would be to bring a tripod next time. Laying on the ground on a cold December evening with a brisk wind is not my idea of fun. I am thankful that I decided to bring along my Platypod so I could at least be able to capture these kind of night scape images. This image was captured using 9 vertical images stitched together and then cropped to a 2:1 ration.

In 1929, the german author Thomas Mann (Nobel Prize laureate) had a cottage built in the fishing village of Nidden (Nida, Lithuania) on the Curonian Spit, where there was a German art colony, and where he spent the summers of 1930–32 working on "Joseph and His Brothers". The cottage now is a cultural center dedicated to him, with a small memorial exhibition.
