Thomas Faed RSA, The Last of the clan 1865 detals
'When the steamer had slowly backed out, and John MacAlpine had thrown off the hawser [rope], we began to feel that our once powerful clan was now represented by a feeble old man and his granddaughter, who, together with some outlying kith-and-kin, myself among the number, owned not a single blade of grass in the glen that was once all our own.' Exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1865, this painting was accompanied in the catalogue by this paragraph which was probably written by the artist himself. Such emigrant scenes were common occurrences in mid 19th-century Scotland when, partly as a result of the Highland Clearances, the land could no longer support the people. Emigration, often forced, to places such as America and Canada, was the only hope of survival.

This is Thomas, he is Irish and a friend of my number 2 Stranger. I met Thomas on London Bridge a few weeks ago and we chatted for a couple of minutes about my photography and last night he came up to me and introduced himself again. We chatted some more. He is living on London near Richmond and is a photographer in the making. He wants to learn but hasn't been brave enough to try. When he told me about his friend (my number 2 stranger) I suggested that we do some photography together. So we spend around 10 or 15 minutes chatting and taking photographs of him and his friend Caoimhe (pronounced Kweeva). Now I have met him twice he is no longer a stranger but it goes to show that London is a great city for meeting people.
All parts of this cake are hand made and hand painted based on characters from Thomas the tank wooden railway.. This cake was based on a design by Sweet pudgy Panda UK

The Owens-Thomas House is located at 124 Abercorn Street in Savannah, Georgia.
The Owens-Thomas House was designed by William Jay, a young architect from England. Construction started in 1816, and was completed in 1819. The home's first owner was Richard Richardson, a wealthy banker and cotton merchant. He only lived there for three years, when he had some financial troubles and lost the house.
Mrs. Mary Maxwell was the home's next owner. She lived there for eight years, and rented out rooms to people visiting the city. One of her most famous guests was the Marquis de Lafayette, a Revolutionary War hero from France. He addressed the city from the house on March 19, 1825.
In 1830, the house was purchased by George Welshman Owens for $10,000. Owens was a lawyer, congressman, and mayor of Savannah. His family owned the house until 1951.
In 1951 Margaret Thomas, George Owens's granddaughter, donated the house to the Telfair Museum of Art. The house has been operated as a museum ever since then.
In addition to the home's rich history, it also has its own ghost story. Many believe that the ghost of Margaret Thomas resides at the house. She always loved caring for her garden, and today many visitors have seen a ghostly lady walking through the garden at night. Her ghost is also seen in the house's parlor, sometimes looking out the window.

The street is named after the church of St. Thomas, founded in 1175 near St. Catherine's church. The founder was William FitzAldelm, deputy and kinsman of King Henry II. The church was dedicated to Thomas Beckett (St. Thomas the Martyr), who had recently been murdered in his cathedral at Canterbury by followers of the king. The church became a rich and powerful monastery, which controlled the Liberty of Thomas Court and Donore. In 1539 it was dissolved with all the monasteries by Henry VIII. Over the following 150 years the churches in the neighbourhood passed over to the reformed church, while Roman Catholic priests led a precarious existence tending to the larger part of the population, which remained faithful to the old religion.
From the mid-16th century the Lord of this Liberty was the Earl of Meath, whose family acquired the lands of the monastery from Henry VIII when he dissolved the monasteries.
In 1803 this street was the scene of the events surrounding the insurrection organized by Robert Emmet, where Lord Kilwarden was killed. Many of the participants in what turned out to be a riot were from this street and neighbouring streets.
The street runs from Cornmarket to the Saint James's Gate Brewery, where Guinness is brewed; there Thomas Street connects with James's Street.
The National College of Art and Design is located on Thomas Street, as is John's Lane Church, which has the highest steeple in the city, Vicar Street (music venue), St. Catherine's church where the patriot Robert Emmet was executed, and the local Social Welfare office.
Thomas Street is one of only four streets in Dublin where street trading is permitted (the other three being Wexford Street, Henry Street, and Moore Street)

Born in the parish of Old Monkland, Thomas McCosh was the third son of Thomas and Anna Maria Hargrave McCosh. The family home was at Flores, Burnside, Rutherglen. His father was a lawyer. Thomas was educated at the High School of Glasgow and the University of Glasgow, where he graduated MB ChB in 1905. Exam records show that although he sailed through Midwifery and Surgery he had a little more difficulty with the Practice of Medicine, Medical Jurisprudence and Public Health.
He went to England after graduating and set up in private practice in Woodford Green, Essex. He married Gibson Alexander, younger daughter of Deacon Convener Hugh Alexander of Rutherglen and they had a son. In May 1915, Thomas joined the Royal Army Medical Corps and was attached to the 11th (Cardiff Pals) Battalion of the Welsh Regiment. He saw a great deal of active service and was awarded the Military Cross (MC) in 1917 for conspicuous gallantry. His citation read;
"When his Aid Post was subjected to heavy shell fire for over three hours, he, with absolute disregard for his own personal safety, set a splendid example of courage and devotion to duty."
He died shortly after that, on 16th April 1917, as the result of a tragic accident while on active duty. It seems that he was riding through camp when his horse tripped over barbed wire hidden in the grass and threw him out of the saddle. The horse bolted and dragged him face first through barbed wire entanglement. He never regained consciousness. Captain Thomas McCosh was 34. He was buried at Karasouli Military Cemetery in Greece, some 56 kilometres from Thessalonika.

These photographs document a road trip from San Diego, California to Tillamook, Oregon undertaken by my best friend Thomas and I. We took our time traveling and ventured from the beaten path at our discretion, which really made the trip something special. I spent the majority of my time shooting film with my Hasselblad, and so these are little more than a digital taste of the 120mm work I plan to begin posting next week.
St Thomas & St Edmund Salisbury. Dating from 1220, St Thomas's is the parish church of New Sarum. It contains a rare wall "doom" painting depicting the Last Judgement which is currently nearing the end of a painstaking restoration - hence the scaffolding in the nave. The Lady Chapel was restored in 2018.
