1. I'm a fan of Nancy Drew and Sherlock Homes. I'm a bit nosy when I have to that's why I dreamed of working with the CIA and FBI!lol
2. I easily get attached with people. You are my weakness, so please stop!LOL
3. I'm a lefty except when I use scissors and strum a guitar. (i forgot! i use right when i use my cam, too... thanks for reminding me kuya jim!)
4. I don't like PINK except here in Flickr.
5. My dad still brings me to work and fetches me when he needs, too. LOL
6. I dream of playing tennis all my life.
7. I easily get bored with my hairstyle.
8. I love persuading people most especially in shopping. Saleslady, eh?lol
9. I'm a sucker for elegance.
10. I think Jollibee's fried chicken is way better than MacDonald's.
11. I love coffee and tea. Starbucks and Twining's are irresistible.
12. I'm a go-getter but never a brat.
13. When I'm embarrassed I can turn the whole thing into a comedy.
14. Food is next to godliness. Never tried a perfect 24 for a waistline!!!LOL
15. I love making people look good, in short, TRANSFORM them!!!
16. I only get irrational thrice a month. (So they say...)

Shot for this week's Pretty Pink Tuesday theme (pink fluffiness)
First of all: yes, it's me... yes, you can see my eyes eye again... and yes, this is my real eye color :)
Fluffiness... what a stupid theme. It was my suggestion though. LOL. How could I have ever suggested that without having any idea?! I was thinking of dandelions or feathers or stuff but then decided to go with a selfie anyway... Cause I think we'll get to see lots of feathers and flowers today *hrhr* I hope that hoody is fluffy enough?!
It's kinda hard doing a self portrait... there are so many things you have to think of... position of the hands, facial expression, focus, light and of course triggering the remote of the cam. What I actually did with my toes this time cause I didn't want it to be visible in the shot *lol* Uhm, I think that might have been a little too much information... :D

It's been a while since I shot an actual self portrait in a semi serious manner and played with the light and tried to shape it the way I wanted it. I used to do this a lot more, but got away from it for some reason. When I first started playing with strobes I was impressed and inspired by Regina Pagles and her amazing portrait work, and this photo is a riff on her technique / set up. Sadly she is no longer doing portraits, or at least isn't posting them here.

I am sure many of you wonder how much I process my portraits...well, it really varies...however, today...this particular shot of myself, is untouched...and is SOOC...No processing whatsoever...taken as the sun sets in the sky...and patio light. Yes, I am wearing makeup...Naturally. =)
Two years ago I took a similar selfie for a similar ODC challenge. It was my first real selfie, and I hid behind my camera for it. I decided to do a remake, and you can see I’ve become a little more confident and less “hidden.” Two weeks after that first selfie, my husband passed away after a long battle with cancer. So I have spent the last two years learning to live alone. It was very therapeutic to read my description for that picture. I have been focused on “getting through it” for the past two years, but it’s a reminder that I’m also on a journey to shape a new life for myself. I am presently having a new home for myself built in a “minimal maintenance” community in a developement, after living for 35 years in the country. It will be a big change, and I am looking forward to it. I am presently going through 35 years of accumulated stuff and deciding what to keep and what to let go of. And still trying to figure out who I am and what’s important as I go forward. Does anyone ever "get there"? Anyway, this is me.

Devil's Night (October 30)
Devil's Night is a longstanding tradition predating World War II, with anecdotal incidents occurring as early as the 1930s. Traditionally, youths in the Detroit area engaged in a night of criminal behavior, which usually consisted of acts of vandalism (such throwing eggs at the homes of neighbors, or stringing toilet paper in trees) . These were almost exclusively petty vandalism acts, causing little to no property damage other than perhaps a damaged mailbox or eggs hardening on windows. These acts still go on today, and the "criminals" almost never face prosecution.
However, in the early 1970s a dark side of this holiday emerged and the vandalism escalated to more severe acts such as arson. This primarily took place in the city but surrounding suburbs were not entirely immune. Property owners unable to sell in the rapidly declining Detroit city housing market would use this night as an excuse to burn down their homes to collect insurance money. These incidents were blamed on Devil's Night hooligans, greatly adding to the notoriety of the night.
The crimes became more destructive in Detroit's inner-city neighborhoods, and included hundreds of acts of arson and vandalism every year. The destruction reached a peak in the mid- to late-1980s, with more than 800 fires set in 1984, and 500 to 800 fires in the three days and nights before Halloween in a typical year.

You get so see a sneak preview of what I will look like tomorrow. It's "Fasching" (Carneval) over here and tomorrow is the day where traditonally everybody celebrates it all day long. Many people go to work dressed up somehow :) I will wear this wig (no it's not my real hair *lol*), the devil's horns and I will also wear angel's wings. My nails are painted black and I will wear those huge black-red fake eyelashes too. As I work with clients it's supposed be so much fun :) Many of my co-workers will be dressed up too LOL And after work we will start partying right away till open end :D
It's the first time you get to see my eyes in a self portraits. Phew.... No more secret ;-) And I look so silly.... lol

**So, this is an edit of the image I posted yesterday. The more I looked at it, the more I disliked it and really wanted the screen to look more like an old glass TV tube. I am not 100% I got this exactly right, but I think it looks a little more like the original image I had in my head when I started. It looks a little less like one photo pasted over another. Well, at least I think it does.

Almost 32 years later but still the same.
Ok, I have a job now and know how to use a toilet... but otherwise... at least I have still good chances to win any bad-hair contest!
I've used my Canon EOS 7D and the studio flash set of my girlfriend, gaia3gaia. One softbox from the directly in front of me (diagonal from front left), another softbox from right behind be and a third flash to illuminate the wall behind me. In order to see where I am in the frame I've shot with the EOS Utility (where you can control your camera on your laptop).
It's ok for me if you comment ore fave me although I look like this... ;)
Wow! I was on the Explore Frontpage! I did not expect this... but of course I am happy! A lot!
