Lucky enough to have a Bus drive past!

None of this is for trade or sale, although trans-dark-blue bits might be - I don't really like them now that I've bought them.

Bits on the left are to be used as headlights and taillights. The mallets are two-piece builds, and can be taken apart for even cooler combinations. Wooo! The U-clips will definitely serve me well. The 4L bars are glow-in-the-dark - underside neon, anyone? And iPads could make nice winglets of some sort.

In my opinion, this is a step up in my approach to building 4-wides. If you're into purism, you may as well un-follow me now.

Yep, I did shell out a sum on this stuff. No trans-orange though - I could really use some of those. And some other trans-colours.

The Baroness is here!!!! When La Femme collection was announced Agnes was the third doll I liked the most, with Eugenia being the first and Elyse the second. I preordered her without hesitation because, in general, I like short haired dolls and I like the screening they chose for her. I was soooo excited to get her!!!!

Hair/Makeup: As far as I recall, Agnes was never in FR white color, this is the first one. Also, she is the first Agnes with short hair. Have to admit, I am not too crazy about the hairstyle in person. Although she has tones of product in her hair, it still looks bulky. I think she she is too heavily rooted. The right side of her head looks better as it has less hair, the right one is a bit problematic. As I got her several days ago, I already washed her hair and she does look better IMO, will post photos. Maybe if they used Exquise Adele's hairstyle... Now, her face left me breathless!!! Those red lips and turquoise eyes!!! She also has a hint of silver eyeshadow, which makes this color combination my favorite, stunning! She looks very classy and elegant. I also adore her eyebrows! Her face is a perfection, I wouldn't change anything, but I have to penalize for the hair. 9.5/10

Outfit/Accessories: I wasn't too impressed with the outfit when she was announced, but in person it looks quite nice. The skirt was the least favorite piece, but it is very nicely made and it is fully lined with a mesh material. It looks very haute in person. The blouse is also nicely constructed, but I am not sure about the material they chose. It looks artificial and shiny in person. I am no expert in materials, so I can not tell which one they used. Now, the surprise, the blouse does not close on the back!!!??? It doesn't close at all. Yes, you will have to remove it over her head. I got it, they wanted have a clean look on the back, because of the short hair. But, I am not sure this is a good choice for short haired doll, because you will mess her hair if you remove it a few times. She comes with the same belt they used for Exquise Adele, it looks very nice, but it is a nightmare to put on. The new closures are not good choice for the belts IMO, the old ones closed better. The shoes are the weakest link here. Very basic black sandals, with long black strings. The strings look very basic and cheap, not like the ones they used for Coquette Jordan. Though they do have red soles and silver heels, which is a nice touch. Now, the necklace is everything, it looks very nice when you put it on. She comes with a coordinated ring and earrings, as well. Very nice jewelry. The leopard bag brings a bit of drama in this look. The execution is amazing, it closes with small silver zipper and looks very nice in person. 9/10.

Overall: It is all about the screening and the face when it comes to this Agnes. She will be very cherished here. As the outfit is a hit or a miss, I would suggest to get her nude, as she really looks beautiful! 9/10

The Bridge of Sighs in Cambridge, is a stone bridge at St John's College, Cambridge. It was built in 1831 and crosses the River Cam between the college's Third Court and New Court. It is named after the Bridge of Sighs in Venice.

This rock was featured twice in the Star Trek TOS third season, it kicked the Enterprise's asteroid in "The Paradise Syndrome" and was the home of Natira and clan as the populated ark Yonada in "For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky." In this shot the compositing is incomplete and the star field can be seen to surround the incompletely imaged secondary hull as well as the port nacelle. Nice detail of the impulse thrusters is visible on the rear of the saucer as well as the lights and stripes on the secondary hull. I have replaced a previous shot in my photostream with this new image which is sharper and has more detail showing the shuttle craft bay and nacelles.

This angle was used in several episodes. Another view with a bit more detail at the base of the shuttle craft bay doors showing the Enterprise printed in front of the Light of Zetar can be seen here:

Is the unlucky one who has to team up with me whenever we play badminton. In the game we played after this photo was shot, the third man was Maddi :); Vinay and Raj played against us.

[My friend who used to play badminton at state level once told me long back that if I ever wanted to get good at this sport I should play with guys because they will be much more aggressive and their smashes will be much more difficult to return. I can say for sure playing is loads of fun but since I started playing so late in life I do not have the moves - my backhand is nonexistent and my smashes are weak at best :(. Hopefully, I will improve and maybe then, the third man will be lucky when I team up with him! ]

Today i went to get inked for the second time. This is my third tattoo, a kind of belated b-day present from me to me :)

What people say is true, when you first get a tattoo you want another and another...

If i could i would like to have 6 in total... But it will need time and money!!

(With apologies to Philip K Dick).

Yet another variation in Harlequin markings, this one doesn't even have the characteristic 'M/W marking on the pronotum. However the keel is evident, so I'm confident.

The third section (!) of Santa Fe’s 981 train hustles through Wilbern, Illinois, on June 26, 1993. Sometimes Santa Fe could put on a really great show and run trains like streetcars!

The third stop at Sihanoukville on our cruise ship purchased tour was to Ochheuteal Beach. Sihanoukville is known for its many beaches and casinos (70+).

Ochheuteal Beach is the most popular and touristed beach in Sihanoukville.

It was a slow day at the beach so beach babies were at a minimum.

In the 1960's, Sihanoukville's beaches became a magnet for jetsetters.

That all changed in 1970 when Cambodia fell into civil war.

1993, after the Khemer Rouge were gone, backpackers began to discover Sihanoukville's beaches.

In 2006 the New York Times labeled the area "Asia's next trendsetting beach."

Today the city casinos and beaches are the playground of Mainland Chinese visitors.

From signage:

The Dispatch House of St. Francis' Third Order was built in the mid-18th century. Nasoni designed both the building and some of the carving used to decorate the inside. The underground floor houses the Brothers' graveyard. The Church, which was begun in 1795, was Oporto's first neo-classical church. The original drawings were by Antonio Pinto de Miranda and a number of famous artists contributed to the interior.

Finished a CPR course at uni today to find a message on my phone from a friend to give him a call ASAP with big news. Upon reaching him, was told that there was triple QRN 6020 class on BM7, followed by Indian Pacific NR leading BA4 and finally NR103. On my previous 2 attempts NR103 had been elusive, coming after dark or not leading.

As we reached Pennant Hills, the triple QRN 6020 class went through so I knew I had just enough time to race home and get my camera and get back down for a shot.

Having sprinted to the car, raced home and then back to Cheltenham, I found my efforts were not in vain as a suburban to Chatswood was still to arrive. Seeing this I was able to relax a little and set up my shot. Shortly afterwards, NR103 appeared heading south making all the effort put in for the shot completely worth it

When you have three tree photos that you adore, how can you choose an order in which to publish them? I don’t know! I figured that if I love all of them, then random is a good an order as necessary. I go through various levels of this every night when I put together the daily post for the next day. The selection process is fairly mentally grueling! :)

St. Paul the Apostle is a very revered saint in the Sicilian town of Palazzolo Acreide, the feast in his honor is celebrated on two occasions (very important periods if referring to peasant civilization), on 29 June (the day I took this photo story this year 2025) date of his martyrdom, and January 25, the date of his conversion to Christianity. The "summer party" of June 29, begins with a particular collection of donut-shaped bread (in Sicilian called "cuddura"), donated by the villagers and collected on a cart, this is the "round of bread", these loaves (called "di San Paolo") have decorations that recall snakes: the reference is always to San Paolo, considered the protector from the poisonous bites of vipers, this is the ancestral legacy of an ancient peasant civilization, the wheat harvest period that coincides with the feast, it makes working in sunburnt fields particularly dangerous; once there were characters to whom supernatural gifts were attributed, they were called "ciarauli", capable of protecting from the venomous bites of the viper (This year, a very nice man of Palazzolo Acreide, who was also present last year, was present at the feast to recall these ancient figures. Instead of little snakes, as was once the custom, he had with him a very calm python, also because it was full). The procession takes the name of "sciuta", with reference to the "exit" from the basilica of San Paolo of two floats, first the float comes out with the relic of the saint, carried on the shoulders by the devotees, immediately after, at 13.00 o'clock the exit of the float takes place with the ancient statue of Saint Paul holding a sword in his hand (the iconography represents him with the sword for two reasons, he was beheaded with a sword stroke, and because he, referring to the word of God, defined it more effective and sharper than a double-bladed sword), at this point they begin among the most spectacular and evocative pyrotechnic games that I have ever seen, we witness a phantasmagoric and kaleidoscopic explosion of colors made with enormous colored confetti and with colored ribbons about two meters long called 'nzareddi, which recall the shape and movement of snakes. During the procession we witness the rite of children who, often completely naked, are taken by their parents by the expert hands of two devotees present on the float, they are thus placed in front of St. Paul to ask for his intercession and protection, sometimes these children are adorned with paper money, in fact, the donation of money is part of the rites that accompany the procession. Among these rites is the vow of the "bare shoulder" made by devout bearers, and that of women who walk barefoot by vow. The procession with the two floats then arrives, as a sign of devotion, in the church of the Annunziata.

Windfall is Saltcrown’s lair. Hidden in the midst of the deep forest, the dark elf warlock’s treehouse is only accessible through a small pond, poisonous to any unannounced visitor but vital to the Tree. The camouflaged outpost is guarded by Saltcrown himself and his elven and animal companions.

The title comes from the Dead Can Dance instrumental, which I listened in loops while building Windfall; in a way, it became its soundtrack in my mind.

--------------------------------

I haven’t posted any creation online during these last few months, but I haven’t been inactive either. Most of my Lego time has been spent getting inspiration from other builders, learning new techniques, and acquiring more pieces for my collection.

Windfall was built during the last month. My wish was to build something as organic as I could, while remaining in the general Castle mood. I soon opted for a treehouse, in part because of foggy memories of Forestmen’s sets from my childhood, but I wanted the whole building to be integrated into the morphology of the tree, not just fixed around it. Which led to some very fun and experimental building techniques.

First came a round structure made with hinges and round 1x1 bricks. While the trunk was getting taller, I had to integrate flat elements in that general curve (windows and balconies), and thus find a way to fix them in pretty convoluted ways (sticking them on turntable plates from the inside of the tree, and using a lot of hinges to reconnect subassemblies to the trunk at random angles). A lot of mixels (joints!) and a few Bricklink orders (leaves!) later, I was able to give to the tree-top the mushroom-dome shape I had imagined in the first place, and close the whole thing with a long (and mostly invisible ;-) ) balcony.

I wanted to get an irregular and lively shape for the trunk, while integrating recognizable castle elements in it, as well as some less obvious pieces. Most of the solutions I found were a mix of improvisation and inspiration from other builders, namely the amazing Derfel Cadarn and his unbelievable castle builds - and tutorials of course - and many others; a great many thanks to him and this amazing builder’s community for sharing their knowledge and talent online; there is an incredible amount of things to be learnt from you.

Hope you enjoy Windfall!
