I was only going to do three stages but I didn't want to leave this picture out. This is the vial of my millions of minions that will work very hard over the next week to help make my beer. You probably already know that yeast is a living thing. Well, now that the wort is cooled and the whole batch is a decent temperature I will "pitch" the yeast. That is what simply pouring the yeast in is called. Pitching sounds cooler than pouring I guess. Over the next few days the yeast will begin to feed on the malt sugars that are in my brew. They will multiply and form a critical mass in the whole batch. The whole thing will bubble and froth. A pretty cool process. The byproduct of the yeast consuming the sugars is alcohol. And there you have it.
Built between 1896 and 1905, this Italian Renaissance Revival and Beaux Arts-style legislative building was designed by Cass Gilbert, and sits in a park-like setting just north of Downtown St. Paul. The building was the successor to two previous capitol buildings, constructed in 1853 and 1883, which stood closer to Downtown Saint Paul, and featured brick exteriors with stone trim. The third capitol building, clad in marble sourced from Georgia, features the second-largest self-supported marble dome in the world, only being surpassed by its primary inspiration, the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy. A large gold Quadriga, known as “Progress of the State”, stands below the dome, above the building’s front entrance. The building has large outdoor stairways to the south, east, and west, leading up to entrances, with passageways underneath these stairways featuring tiled vaults. Two smaller domes sit atop each of the building’s symmetrical wings, over the Senate Chamber and Supreme Court Chamber, with a large half-dome in the rear over the House of Representatives Chamber. The interior of the building is beautifully decorated with lots of ornate trim and symbolic motifs, including painted ceilings, stone floors, wood paneled walls, and gilded trim. As originally built, the capitol was surrounded by a dense, mixed-use urban neighborhood, which was cleared over the following decades to enlarge the park-like grounds around the building, attaining its present size and form by the mid-1950s, though leaving the capitol quite detached from the surrounding city. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and underwent massive restoration efforts both in the 1970s, and between 2013 and 2017.
Four tunnels dug by North Korea under the Demilitarized Zone have been discovered and neutralized. The Third Tunnel and its grounds has become something of a tourist attraction.

For my top photo, I was roaming my neighborhood looking for good subjects when I passed this cliff. I knew that I would like to have that cliff in my photo, and the closest thing that would make a good subject for thirds was this telephone pole, so I lined it up to where I thought the cross-hairs would be and took the shot. I was wrong. In photoshop I ended up being way off with the cross-hairs so I has to crop and use the home-made grid shape to get it perfect. I also brought the brightness down a little bit, and tweaked the shadow highlight function to tone down the cloud brightness a little bit.
I also found the subject of my bottom photo as I was walking through my neighborhood. It was coincidentally right next to where my top photo was taken. I was walking when I noticed this tree which I thought was a pretty cool looking tree. The way it's bent and the dark shade on it. And the piece of paper on it which is actually a notice that the tree will be torn down to make room for road widening adds a sense of sadness almost to me. So I lined it up (again wrong), and snapped it. In photoshop I fixed the cross hairs again the same way as before. and brought up the brightness. I also tweaked the shadows and highlights again.
I almost forgot that large bodies of water means lighthouses. With bonus breakwater lighthouses in the distance.
I liked the subtle glow in the sky when I was editing this in the dark, but it's pretty hard to see unless it _is dark. I also really need to pick up my tripod in Chicago if I'm going to be doing more of these night shots.

This was taken on Ali and Phil's wedding day three years ago. Chloe our previous spaniel was very much part of the proceedings. She was much loved by Ali and Phil. Sadly she had to be put to sleep two weeks later.
