First stop on my tour of great Paris museums was the Musée Rodin, where his mansion and its garden have been turned into a place of wonder. Key to enjoying the museums is to buy a Museum Pass that allows you to make a quick entrance and skip long lines.
Because I have been to this museum many times and shot dozens of photos of favorite statues, I strive to approach each one with a fresh point of view and was pleased to find a rose that might make a pleasing companion to the iconic Thinker.
Did you know that Rodin produced (and sold) many copies of this Thinker, so you can enjoy it internationally in museums like the ones in Philadelphia and Singapore? He was an astute businessman as well as a talented artist.
Quoting from the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. . . .
"The Thinker was originally conceived not in heroic isolation, but as part of Rodin's monumental Gates of Hell—a pair of bronze doors intended for a museum of decorative arts in Paris. Although the doors were never cast during the sculptor's lifetime, they nevertheless provided Rodin a rich source of ideas for individual figures and groups that he worked and reworked for the rest of his career.
"The theme for Gates of Hell was taken from Dante's Inferno, and this figure, planned for the lintel on top, was initially conceived as the poet himself. His nudity, though, marked him as a universal embodiment of every poet—every creator—who draws new life from the imagination. In the late 1880s Rodin began to exhibit the figure, sometimes with the title Poet, other times as Poet/Thinker. By 1896, however, it had become simply The Thinker, a still more universal image that reveals in physical terms the mental effort and even anguish of creativity. As Rodin himself described: "What makes my Thinker think is that he thinks not only with his brain, with his knitted brow, his distended nostrils and compressed lips, but with every muscle of his arms, back, and legs, with his clenched fist and gripping toes."
Collared Mangabey (Red-capped Mangabey, Sooty Mangabey, or White-collared Mangabey - Cercocebus torquatus)
The Collared Mangabey is a species of primate in the Cercopithecidae family. It is found in Cameroon, Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, and Sierra Leone. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical mangrove forests, and swamps. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Its time to put those thinking lights on and bury my head in the books so rich with knowledge and full of learning. I have been so lifted from the comments you sweet caring people made on my previous photo that i just couldn't resist to upload today! Couldn't thank you all personally but I'm seriously so happy to meet so many wonderful people here. You guys know who you are. The support here really touched me and I'm still here, and will continue to try as this is my outlet and my inspirations come to life through taking this journey. Going to Uni and being a Mum at the same time is hard work 'big sigh' Not sure what i can handle at the moment so will just take things one day at a time.....
