An Eastern Screech Owl opened its eyes momentarily and decided to ignore the photographers and went back to sleep.

It does look like the Owl was thinking during this short moment!

"Sun's up, uuh huh, looks okay

The world survives into another day

And I'm thinking about eternity

Some kind of ecstasy got a hold on me.

I had another dream about lions at the door

They weren't half as frightening as they were before

But I'm thinking about eternity

Some kind of ecstasy got a hold on me..."

Some wonderful time was spent with just me and my cameras this morning.

My thoughts are with the terrible tragedy that took place in Paris. May the Parisians, the French and the World be able to come out of this as tall and strong as the Eiffel Tower.

Wanted to know if anyone would be interested in buying these

The war in Ukraine, violent as it is on the ground, has also produced elsewhere a most confrontational mindset. Each side is generating its own "narrative" with its related truth claims. Their thought police would accuse anybody of heresy who dared to look at the other narrative. These attempts at silencing more nuanced ways of thinking must be resisted. As for me, living in the UK with its very outspoken support for Ukraine, some reminders may be in order. 1. Putin's regime is the enemy, not the Russian people. 2. It is not Tolstoi or Shostakovich we have issues with. 3. Thinking about a possible postwar order must be allowed if it helps to prevent a global or nuclear confrontation.

enjoying a nice breakfast next to my yacht, the Iridescent, at her slip in Home of the Fallen Angels.. Thinking about things that I can't really change, pondering how fast glaciers thaw these days.

On a sunny day in spring a woman walks alone at the still quiet bathing beach of the Dutch city of Flushing.

Happy Earth Day, though I think we should be celebrating and focusing on earth every day! I spent some time today in the garden thinking about what images came to mind around earth, the natural world, what we do it.

I wanted to create an image that showed the power of nature, that it powers us, it can power us. That plants can power us, that nature can be a light and a force in our life, that it can break through and bring life back.

I hope you're able to celebrate the earth in your own way today. Spend some time outdoors, go for a walk, eat some fresh fruit or vegetables, listen to the birds. Do what you can to help our beautiful planet.

"Time may take us apart, that's true,

but I will always be there for you.

You're in my heart, you'll be in my dreams,

no matter the miles between...."

Michelle is the quiet one in my family. Still water runs deep with this one. When I met Michelle, she was 2 years old, and was the cutest little thing you ever saw! She was always shy, but not timid, if that makes any sense. Mostly, she just seemed to prefer to absorb what was going on around her, and seemed content to keep her thoughts to herself most of the time. She has a definite serenity about her that is magnetic!

Michelle is my niece by marriage, and now that her mother and my brother are divorced, we don't see much of each other. Divorce strains more than just the relationships in the immediate family; it breaks apart many bonds. It's a sad thing.

Michelle is also a gifted photographer, having been taught by her father, who is one of Daytona's top bridal photographers. Rather than studying photography, though, she made a wise choice to pursue a nursing career. Actually, with her smarts, Michelle could easily become a doctor! (Don't know if that mind of hers is going there, but I wouldn't be surprised!) Whatever she chooses to do, I'm sure she'll do well. I'm very proud of her.
