Yesterday I watched the last episode of the last (fifth) season of The Wire. As allways, when you're really into a good story, its's sad to say goodbye to characters which, although they are fictious, you've come to care about a great deal.

The Wire ranks certainly with the best I have ever seen on Television. For me only series like Twin Peaks or The Singing Detective come close.

There is no glory in this series. Not for the getto criminals, not for the police, not for politicians, not for journalists. In some way they all stand to lose. And exactly that makes you warm up to them. They try so hard to succeed but there are way to many obstacles.

The Wire shows you in great detail the workings of organised crime, policework, the limits to political power, growing up in the getto as a way of lifelong imprisonment and much more.

Thank God there is a lot of fun, humour and real humanity.

I decided to do something that only real fans do: make a sort of tribute. And guess what? It's great fun to do!

That big purple chunk is video on my iPhone- it is Season 1 of The Wire that I purchased to watch on my flights. At first it maxed my 16 Gb space, so I had to offload some photos and some music I was lukewarm on, as well as some audiobooks that I was done with. When done, I'll dock the video back to an external hard drive.

Am also syncing right now the TV series to my iPod Touch, since the video cable for that does not work with the iPhone (ahem, cough, gouge me Apple), so I used the Pod to connect to my TV.

"William Basinski is aiming to recreate his influential Williamsburg studio and performance space, Arcadia, in March next year at St John's in Hackney. Basinski's series will take place across one week, and will include performances and exhibitions, including a number of appearances by Basinski.

Two concerts in the series are announced so far: Michael Gira performing solo on 12 March, then Charlemagne Palestine and Rhys Chatham closing out the week on 20 March. Basinski will perform at each event, and daytime workshops and talks are planned, alongside an exhibition which will be installed for the duration.

Basinski set up his Arcadia club behind a nondescript steel door in Williamsburg in the late 80s. The space hosted readings, performances and exhibitions, with a focus on experimentation and emerging artists. Basinski once described it as looking like "a Baroque Venetian palazzo". It was open until until the late 90s and hosted Antony and Diamanda Galas, among many others."

My team (Warrington Town AFC) played Colwyn Bay in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round on the 22nd September. After a poor start we came back into the game.

Sadly, saves like this one kept us from winning.

The Football Association Challenge Cup, commonly known as the FA Cup, is a knockout cup competition in English football and is the oldest association football competition in the world.[1] The "FA Cup" is run by and named after the Football Association and usually refers to the English men's tournament, although a women's tournament is also held. Its current sponsored name is the FA Cup with Budweiser.[2]

The FA Cup was first held in 1871–72. Entry is open to all teams who compete in the Premier League, the Football League and in steps one to five of the FA National League System, as well as selected teams in step 6. This means that clubs of all standards compete, from the largest clubs in England and Wales down to amateur village teams. The tournament has become known for the possibility for "minnows" from the lower divisions to become "giant-killers" by eliminating top clubs from the tournament and even theoretically winning the Cup, although lower division teams rarely progress beyond the early stages. The qualification rounds and a system of byes mean that the very smallest and very biggest teams almost never meet.

The holders of the FA Cup are Chelsea, who defeated Liverpool 2–1 in the 2012 final for their fourth triumph in six years and seventh overall.
