RESPONSE TO JNUSU CHARTER OF DEMANDS .

1. Approval of student representation in AC and Board of Studies by HRD rr-1inistry .

The approval to the Students' representation in Academic Council and Board of Studies asrecommended by the Executive Council has been received and is being notified. .

2. Scrapping of the new rules and procedures of GSCASH .

The Recommendations received from Prof. Rupamanjari Ghosh Committee had been sent toJNUSU and other associations in July 2006 to give their final acceptance by August 31, 2006, sothat the same could be placed before next EC. The JNUSU response is still awaited. .

3. Withdrawal of the recently proposed discriminatory, inconsistent and anti-studentGrade-Percentage conversion formula.

The decision has since been kept in abeyance by the Academic Council .

4. Ensuring Punishment for Communal Lumpens .

The cases relating to Caste abuses and discrimination are looked by the Equal Opportunity Office..

The action on the recommendations of the Equal Opportunity Office is taken by the University in.

5. Financial Assistance .

Fellowship amount received from UGC is Rs. 35 lakhs. .

The rate of MCM fellowship was raisedlast year from Rs. 300 to Rs. 600 for BA students at par with MA students. The same was.

extended to M.Phil. students as well. The University, in response to JNUSU demand has agreed.

to extend MCM fellowship to Ph.D. students. The University has also requested UGC/ MHRD and.

Ministry of Social Justice for an amount of Rs. 4.5 crores per annum for giving fellowships to theUniversity students. As soon as the sanction is received from UGC/MHRD MCfVl fellowship will be.

suitably revised. However, keeping in vievv the hardships as brought out by JNUSU, the Universityhas agreed to enhance MCM fellowships for M.Phii/Ph.D. students from Rs. 600 to Rs. 900 permonth. For BA/MA level students the amount will be enhanced from Rs.600 to Rs. 750. .

6. Democratic Representation in the Equal Opportunity Office .

The JNUSU's request to the appointment of a Committee to look into students' representation in.

Equal Opportunity Office has since been agreed. .

7. Grievance Redressal Committees .

The Grievance Redressal Mechanism at University level for students has already been notifiedvide notification dated reb 9, 2005 and dated July 22, 2003. .

8. 24x7 Dhaba .

Two food courts have been constructed at the location where Nestle outlet was located and theprocess of allotment of the outlet as per recommendations of the Campus DevelopmentCommittee (CDC) is under way. In addition, two similar food courts are b~ing constructed near.

Tapti/Sabarmati Hostels. .

The contract hess been awarded. The s:te will be finalized inconsultation with the residents of the area. .

9. End to Corporate Funding .

There is no corporate funding .
