The Puerta del Sol is the heart of the city. This is in theory the starting point of all roads in Spain (they call it the 'zero kilometer'). puerta del solAround this bustling and gigantic junction of 8 streets are a large number of shops and interesting places to visit including the Plaza Mayor. Nearby you'll also find lots of places where you can try traditional dishes, though one must be careful as some of them are quite expensive due to the high number of tourists in the area. Be sure to confirm the price of everything in advance if you don't want an unpleasant surprise when paying!
Many important streets in Madrid originate at this point in the city. For example, Calle de Alcalá (calle means street) leads to the bullring of Las Ventas. Another street departing from Sol, Calle Mayor, will take you to Plaza Mayor, to Madrid's City Hall located in Plaza de la Villa, or to Calle Bailén. Calle Arenal will take you to the Opera and to the Royal Palace, situated in the area known as the Austria's Madrid, named after the Austria royal family of Spain.

Groove Theory's "Groove Theory" (1995) album cover.
Opinion:
Like many other artists of the 90s Groove Theory is one of my favorites. "Tell Me" was a song that I personally remembered growing up in school. If you look up any 90s R&B hits, I bet you'll see Groove Theory's "Tell Me." The song and album together is awesome. Much love to Amel Larrieux who then went solo after the band disbanded in the late 90s.
Elaborate conspiracy theories are just an attempt to bring order to the chaos of life. Reality is frequently much stranger.
