The Golden Ratio informs a lot of my art and photographic composition. The Golden Ratio also informs the design of the golden revolver on all the swimsuits and lingerie, as well as the 45surf logo! Not so long ago, I came up with the Golden Ratio Principle which describes why The Golden Ratio is so beautiful.
The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after. Robust, ordered growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life—in the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. As ratios between Fibonacci Numbers offer the closest whole-number approximations to the golden ratio, and as seeds, cells, leaves, bones, and other physical entities appear in whole numbers, the Fibonacci Numbers oft appear in nature’s elements as “growth’s numbers.” From the dawn of time, humanity sought to salute their gods in art and temples exalting the same proportion by which all their vital sustenance and they themselves had been created—the golden ratio.

Old Chemistry Building, Baldwin Quad, University of Cincinnati
Starting in 1876, the Chemistry Department is one of the oldest education departments of the University of Cincinnati and it awarded its first Bachelors of Science in 1880.
When the department first opened its doors to students, it was located in an old school building in downtown Cincinnati, but it did not last long before relocating to the basement of the Cincinnati Medical College on Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine.
In 1912, the Department of Chemistry was authorized by the university to draw up plans for a new building. Ground was broken in June 1914 for the Chemistry building. The building was designed by Tietig and Lee and is constructed of red wire-cut brick and Terra cotta trimming.
Inside the Old Chem building, the entrance foyer has an often-unnoticed piece of history. A fountain, made by the famous Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, was designed to showcase the evolution of modern chemistry
The year 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of Albert Einstein's presentation of the complete Theory of General Relativity to the Prussian Academy. It doesn’t take a genius to recognize the importance of Einstein’s theory — even if his earth-shaking physics formula, Rµv–½gµvR=(8πG/c4) Tµv, is daunting to many of us. Every day, Einstein’s work is employed by a huge percentage of the human population — including everyone who uses a global positioning system (GPS).
Einstein’s theory revealed that time runs more slowly near a strong source of gravity — an idea that revolutionized physics when first presented to the Prussian Academy of Sciences in November 1915, but would have no practical applications for decades, because the technologies that could make use of the theory did not yet exist. Today, Einstein’s discovery makes it possible to ensure GPS devices sync up properly with satellites far from the Earth’s center of gravity.

The shoot was inspired by the autumn warmth , bringing action to the earthy colors and vintage styling of this season. The garments were carefully selected and put together to highlight the eye catching red bow tie and Product Red Monsterbeat headphones; Levi tapered denim and a clean cut shirt from the Zara Man collection sits wonderfully underneath the vinatage styled cotton cardigan with elbow patches and hand knitted scarf, the footwear is from supra to give the look more of a trendy edge.

a type of field theory that allows all that is usually thought of as fundamental forces and elementary particles to be written in terms of a single field. There is no accepted unified field theory. It remains an open line of research. The term was coined by Einstein, who attempted to unify the general theory of relativity with electromagnetism, hoping to recover an approximation for quantum theory. A "theory of everything" is closely related to unified field theory, but differs by not requiring the basis of nature to be fields, and also attempts to explain all physical constants of nature.
Maxwell's equations are a set of partial differential equations that, together with the Lorentz force law, form the foundation of classical electrodynamics, classical optics, and electric circuits. These in turn underlie modern electrical and communications technologies.
Maxwell's equations have two major variants. The "microscopic" set of Maxwell's equations uses total charge and total current including the difficult-to-calculate atomic level charges and currents in materials. The "macroscopic" set of Maxwell's equations defines two new auxiliary fields that can sidestep having to know these 'atomic' sized charges and currents.
Maxwell's equations are named after the Scottish physicist and mathematician James Clerk Maxwell, since in an early form they are all found in a four-part paper, "On Physical Lines of Force," which he published between 1861 and 1862. The mathematical form of the Lorentz force law also appeared in this paper.
It is often useful to write Maxwell's equations in other forms; these representations are still formally termed "Maxwell's equations". A relativistic formulation in terms of covariant field tensors is used in special relativity, while, in quantum mechanics, a version based on the electric and magnetic potentials is preferred.
Maxwell's correction to Ampère's law is particularly important: It means that a changing magnetic field creates an electric field, and a changing electric field creates a magnetic field.Therefore, these equations allow self-sustaining "electromagnetic waves" to travel through empty space
Gauss's law describes the relationship between an electric field and the generating electric charges: The electric field points away from positive charges and towards negative charges. In the field line description, electric field lines begin only at positive electric charges and end only at negative electric charges. 'Counting' the number of field lines in a closed surface, therefore, yields the total charge enclosed by that surface. More technically, it relates the electric flux through any hypothetical closed "Gaussian surface" to the enclosed electric charge.
Faraday's law describes how a time varying magnetic field creates ("induces") an electric field. This aspect of electromagnetic induction is the operating principle behind many electric generators: for example a rotating bar magnet creates a changing magnetic field, which in turn generates an electric field in a nearby wire.
William Moore's book on the "Philadelphia Experiment" claims that Albert Einstein completed, and subsequently destroyed, a theory before his death. Moore bases this on Carl Allen's letter to Jessup in which Allen refers to a conversation between Einstein and Bertrand Russell acknowledging that the theory had been solved, but that man was not ready for it

The Opus Maius (‘Greater Work’) is Roger Bacon’s most influential work. Particularly interesting here are his essays on Optics. Bacon complicated the neoplatonic theories of extramission with a theory of intromission, in which he argued that species were not only emitted from the eyes of the viewer but also from the object viewed. Gary Becker lectures during the 2008 Price Theory Summer Camp. The event was created to introduce PhD students from outside the University of Chicago to price theory, which emphasizes the application of basic economic tools to problems.
During this intensive one-week program, students hear lectures from UChicago price theory faculty and experience a series of “Chicago-style” seminars where faculty present their research in progress. Participants also work on problem sets in workshops and have opportunities to discuss their own work with some of the world's leading economists.
The program is geared toward PhD students in economics who have completed their third or fourth year of study, but applications are accepted from doctoral candidates of all levels. Price Theory Summer Camp was created to introduce PhD students from outside the University of Chicago to price theory, which emphasizes the application of basic economic tools to problems.

This is a photo demonstrating the desaturation theory. This theory claims that the more desaturated the color in a work, the more internal that work becomes. This means that a desaturated photo is more likely to illicit feelings from an audience. In this particular photo I was "sad" that the duckies kept swimming away from me. I believe that the desaturation helps to emphasize this "sadness". Bye duckies :(
