This was definitely the hardest photograph to take because the room that I was in was completely dark except for a harsh light over the piano. I had to play around and move this light so that it wouldn't be too bright and overexpose certain areas of the photograph. Adjusting the subject was also hard because I wanted to get his profile because I liked how it reflected the light but I also wanted to show his face in the reflection of the piano. There was a lot of adjusting and I took multiple photographs with different positions. I had a hard time with the music sheet as well because it kept reflecting the light over the piano and it was completely overexposed. Also, since it was very dark I was not able to see whether the photograph was in focus or not so I had to take a photo, see the result, and adjust without knowing what the outcome would be. My aperture was very low due to the dark room and my ISO was high. I also set my shutter speed pretty low and used a tripod to allow for even more light. I could have definitely added more light, but I really wanted the contrast of the dark room and the piano, music sheet, and subject. Even though the image was darker over all, this also ensured that the objects with the most reflective properties were not overexposed. I styled it to the theme of music by making my little brother put on his suit, placing the music sheets very visible and have him play the piano.

The golden rays of the sun reflect across the smooth sands of the beach while a lonely & tired fisherman walks by...

Seems like he's so lost in the tantrums of life that he doesn't even have the time to have a glimpse at the beauty of nature...

another set of cupcakes for a christening. :) the cupcakes in the boxes in the back are dulce de leche-filled, especially made as gifts for the godparents. (that's a lot of godparents! :D)

URBAN PHOTO RACE

Throughout the day, you are asked to take a set of 18 photos divided in 6 themes. These themes will be disclosed along the day at different venues.

At the end of the day we all gather at the last checkpoint to deliver the photos that you took and selected. - @ www.urbanphotorace.com

This one was staged 'cos we didn't have any real captures at NUH, trying to shoot blood and gore wasn't that simple... I was thinking Unrestricted Access the series, but they musta' had permits. Disturbing 'cos the photographer didn't bother to help...?

Part of my ongoing masters in design innovation work. Working in the public sector:

How do you find a common language and help break down cultural barriers in the public sector.

Can 'non' designers become designers?

How can you make people more creative and accepting of creativity?

How can you integrate designers into the public sector?

Lots of questions, working on the answers.
