"The only real elegance is in the mind; if you’ve got that, the rest really comes from it."

Diana Vreeland

The Hajvery University’s Fashion School is famous by its own very name because of its ambitious, novel, pushy and pacesetter students. The Faculty of Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), HU takes innovation to skyscraper heights. Every now and then the students of HU’s Fashion School display their creative and innovative pieces of art either on campus or outside the campus.

the students of BFD/MFD displayed their collection of accessories; recycled shoes and shades in the Euro campus. The displays were being specifically made following different interesting themes e.g. in accessories they used truck art, five centers of fashion, leaning tower of Pisa, medicines etc. They made shoes by applying fabulous colors and materials. Sunglasses were the most unique and stylish. Boys preferred to use their cigarettes in an artistic manner and girls applied flowers and feathers to give their shades a more feminist and aesthetic look. Some students also used coins to be more imaginative.

It was indeed a fascinating and eye catching view of students’ collection. Competent and efficient faculty members used their vigor and expertise to evaluate the students’ performance. Teachers had set some standards to assess learners’ making, formation and finishing. Headgears were checked for their wear ability in catwalk. As far as footwear designing is concerned; balance and maintenance was the key focus. Sunglasses were observed from their projected looks perspective.

If I try to present the fashion projects display in fewer possible words that I would likely to say that it was a complete spectrum of western and eastern looks and a perfect example of prolific art.

Green Expo 2026 Photography Competition

Earlier this year, I decided to have a go at entering the Green Expo 2026 Photography Competition in Chester.

I submitted five images across the themes of The Natural World's Resilience and Progress to Net Zero. It was a really enjoyable challenge, particularly as some of the photographs featured solar panels, which required special permission to access and photograph.

I'm delighted to share that I was awarded 2026 Professional Photographer of the Year in the Progress to Net Zero category.

It was a real honour to have the winning images from all of the categories displayed outside Chester Cathedral. It's always rewarding to see your work exhibited in such an iconic location.

A huge thank you to the organisers, the judges, and everyone involved in making the competition such a success.

The winning image was taken from the roof of Storyhouse, looking across its solar panels towards Chester Cathedral.

Category: Progress to Net Zero (Energy, Innovation, and Reducing Waste)

Please state the photo's relevance to the North West and North Wales. (No more than 200 word, e.g. Its location, or of an innovation that could apply or is being used here.).

This photograph is firmly rooted in the North West, taken from the rooftop of Storyhouse, Chester’s premier cultural hub. Storyhouse is widely recognized across the region as a pioneering model for sustainable community spaces. The building itself is an award-winning example of regional urban innovation: a major retrofitting project that successfully transformed a defunct, 1930s Art Deco Odeon cinema into a thriving modern theatre, library, and cinema. The vast solar infrastructure captured in this image represents a critical step forward for urban centres throughout the North West and North Wales. It proves that energy-intensive, public-facing cultural institutions can radically reduce their reliance on the regional grid. By demonstrating how a large-scale, 312-panel photovoltaic array can be seamlessly integrated into a dense conservation area—with the historic towers of Chester Cathedral visible in the distance—this location stands as a shining beacon of municipal progress toward net zero.

Please tell us why you think your photo is relevant to the category you have chosen and the story behind the photo (max 200 words).

This image directly aligns with "Progress to Net Zero" because it documents the industrial-scale adoption of renewable energy within a busy urban environment. The story behind the photo centres on the hidden sustainability of our favourite public spaces. While thousands of visitors utilize Storyhouse daily, this massive clean-energy operation works silently overhead. The photograph captures rows of densely packed solar arrays stretching across the flat roof, showcasing the creative optimization of limited city space to maximize solar capture. What makes this photo relevant to the category is its powerful visual contrast: the cutting-edge, geometric lines of the modern solar panels are framed by the traditional brick chimneys and tiled rooftops of the surrounding historic city. It tells a story of ecological evolution, showing that a community venue dedicated to stories can rewrite its own environmental narrative—slashing carbon emissions and proving that a sustainable future can be built directly on top of our cultural past.

This ‘INTENTION’ themed CreativeMornings/SP event featured Paralympic Athlete Megan Absten and was generously hosted by Station House with special support from Roundhouse Creative.

The morning was fueled by Made Coffee and TeBella Tea Co., and the CreativeMornings/SP team made a gorgeous donut wall and filled it with donuts.

Wax & Hive created a paper pennant party and we all chose intentions to take home with us. As always, Suncoast Compost helped us not be trashy this month. Thank you to all our generous partners for making our events so awesome.

Sundays Theme | 3 Feb | Memories

Christening Gown. Hard to believe my boys were small enough to fit into this as they are now 21 and almost 18 years old. Both of my boys wore this as did my husband and his brother.

Brings back happy memories of when they were infants :-)
