taken for macro mondays theme: light painting
A relative working in Qatar, brought us this small (about 2 inches/5cm) bottle of sand as a gift. Somehow, the bottle appears empty - I guess from some combination of the light painting technique and icm? An earlier attempt with less movement shows the sand more clearly in the first comment box below.
This technique was completely new to me. I'll try it again when I have more time. Thanks to the administrators for coming up with such an excellent variety and combination of themes!

We usually get these nasty storms earlier in the year. History's track record has them in the latter part of may early June. But the last 3 years in south central Nebraska have all been those early July storms making them worthy of remembering.
We had tried to race this storm all the way back from Cozad but strong storm cells developed just to the north of the Interstate (80) and were destined to move south. We were east bound back to Kearney as we got slammed again once we got back into city limits.
Knocked out power to the city for about 6 hours.. Tons of transformers blew all over the town...

Nowadays the children left the house nobody plays the piano anymore, but it's useful for the theme of Macro Monday
We all must make a splash
in magnificent display at times.
So that we find the happiness of the joy

No acabo de ver este tipo de fotografía que a menudo me marea con tanto "blur". De todas las que hice quizás sea esta mi preferida entre comillas por su tonalidad y esos bokeh que tanto me gusta en las fotos.
Weekly Theme Challenge ~ Spring
This view is all about Spring. Beautiful English Bluebells, fragrant gorse, green fields and trees beginning to bear their new leaves...isn't Mother Nature wonderful?
Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated

About the project:
I apply linguistic theories of cohesion in text (meronymy) to the composition of my photographs. Most of the time I use one single image for my works that I like studying in terms of possible different meanings ("visual" semantic) to translate it later into the composition of my diptychs or triptychs.

Week #5
Theme: Monochrome
Just got home tonight from a weekend in Banff. It was our first time staying in this part of the Rockies, so we had a great time exploring the area. The weather was awesome...temps above freezing...blue sky....it was just perfect. Yesterday, we spent the late afternoon out at Vermillion Lakes. I found this spot and loved some of the elements...the uprooted tree in the water...the rocks on the ice...the reflections. It's an interesting spot...although much of the lakes are frozen, parts of them are not frozen due to some hot springs running through. We stayed in this spot for a couple of hours, waiting until the light got really nice...I kind of "staked my claim" with my tripod lol. This shot was taken just after the sun went down.
Today we drove home through the Icefields Parkway...and it was breathtaking. And with seeing only a handful of cars for its almost 300 kilometres, it felt like we had those glorious mountains all to ourselves. :)
