Well, a theme I have used today is about paths. Some may be less travelled and others heavily travelled. It just so happens amongst the next photos I had to upload, there seemed to be many paths.
Well, this is obviously a wide path and despite its looks, a quite fascinating one. It happens to be Burnett Lane in the city centre of Brisbane. It runs parallel to the Queen Street Mall between Albert and George Streets, behind shops fronting Queen and Adelaide Street. If you walk up it, you will find it is filled with interesting art, Blue Ninja cut outs, tiny doors (about 12 inches high and a feature round town), signs, murals, paste ups and you guessed it, graffiti. So if you are in Brisbane, take your camera. It even has a coffee shop embedded in the wall where the man is standing....he is not relieving himself in public!

I like photographing things I see on my walks and at this time of year I look for mushrooms.
This is a new playground being constructed for the kids in this small rural community.

Birthday cake for a Harry Potter-themed party! Hand molded and hand cut fondant and gumpaste decorations. Espresso cake with chocolate buttercream. (I'd like to go on the record as saying that this cake is one of my absolute favorites...it was SO much fun to make!)

Nowadays the children left the house nobody plays the piano anymore, but it's useful for the theme of Macro Monday
The theme of last month's Fashion Fetish event was '40s pin-up as voted for by Good for Party's readers and let me just say to all the readers who did vote: you couldn't have picked a better theme! Our stylists (Anna Lee Jackson & Kelly Moriarty of Studio 110) and photographer (Richard Pack, dickyp.com) made it all look so easy; capturing the sultry vixen look so prevalent in the '40s with perfect up-do's, red lips and spotlight lighting. Impromptu vignettes topped the night off as the girls showed off their gams, played the piano and made boys feel like real gentlemen (by letting them buy them a martini or two, of course). For all you fashion savvy and fashion loving ladies and gentlemen; make sure you stayed tuned to the Good for Party Network- it's the only way to know of the truly avant fashion and music events worth going to in this great city- period.

This week I had to think a little bit on what I was going to present. In the end I decided that nobody else except me could know exactly what I had on mind.
So I set the camera on Manual mode, f10, 1/500 (just to be sure) and took a test shot with no subject. Then I handed the camera to my boyfriend and asked him to keep pushing the shutter while I was jumping.
Found a photo I was happy enough with.
Note to myself: next time don't jump on a stoney beach and choose a sandy one :/

The Baztan valley is a land of noblemen, indianos who returned after making their fortunes in the Americas, smugglers, shepherds and pilgrims who travelled to Santiago along the alternative route that crosses the valley.
Baztan is an evergreen valley with an Atlantic climate and is also the largest municipality in Navarre, covering 374 square kilometres, 15 towns/villages and dozens of caseríos (farmhouses) that dot a landscape of cultivated fields, woods, and meadows in which livestock graze.
There are several medieval palaces and noble houses in the valley, all of them well kept and of great beauty.
The visitor to Arrraioz is met by the haughty figure of the Palace of Jauregizar, a tower of medieval origin with a wooden platform at the top. The road to Ziga leads up to the belvedere of the Baztan, which offers excellent views over the area.
The commercial and administrative centre of Baztan is Elizondo, with its noble houses, palaces and monumental and religious buildings. Baztan has interesting museums such as the ethnographic museum dedicated to Jorge Oteiza (Elizondo) or the Santxotena sculpture museum (Arizkun). It also has delightful spots such as the Xorroxin waterfall (Erratzu), the dolmens of Izpegi and the megaliths of Erratzu-Aldudes.
On the way to the border with France, a road at the top of the Otsondo pass leads to Urdazubi/Urdax, where you can see a mill, a monastery and the spectacular caves of Ikaburu. A guided tour reveals beautiful formations of stalactites and stalagmites and the flowing waters of the Urtxuma, a stream that runs through the caves.
Caves of Urdazubi/Urdax are linked by road or a signposted path to those of Zugarramurdi, which history and legend have always associated with witchcraft.

El Valle de Baztan es tierra de hidalgos, de indianos que volvieron de ultramar, de contrabandistas, de pastores y de peregrinos que acudían a Santiago por la ruta alternativa que atraviesa el valle.
El Baztan es un valle siempre verde, de clima cantábrico, el municipio más extenso de Navarra, con 374 kilómetros cuadrados, que incluye 15 pueblos y decenas de caseríos que salpican un paisaje formado por prados en los que pasta el ganado, cultivos y bosques.
Son numerosos los palacios medievales y señoriales que adornan las localidades baztanesas, todas de gran belleza y cuidado caserío.
Arraioz recibe al visitante con la altiva figura del palacio de Jauregizar, una torre de origen medieval con cadalso de madera en la parte superior. Si se toma el desvío a Ziga, se asciende al mirador de Baztan, que ofrece una bella panorámica de la zona.
El centro comercial y administrativo de Baztan es Elizondo, con sus caserones, palacios y edificios monumentales y religiosos. Baztan cuenta con interesantes museos como el etnográfico Jorge Oteiza (Elizondo) o el museo escultórico Santxotena (Arizkun), y con bellos rincones donde perderse como la cascada de Xorroxin (Erratzu), los dólmenes de Izpegi y los megalitos de Erratzu-Aldudes.
En el camino que lleva a la frontera con Francia, un primer desvío en las últimas rampas del puerto de Otsondo conduce hasta Urdazubi/Urdax, donde puede visitarse el molino, el monasterio y la espectacular cueva de Ikaburu. Una visita guiada permite contemplar bellas formaciones de estalactitas y estalagmitas y escuchar el murmullo del Urtxuma, un riachuelo que discurre por el interior de la gruta.
La cuevas de Urdazubi/Urdax está unida por carretera o por una senda señalizada con la de Zugarramurdi, que la historia y la leyenda han ligado para siempre a la brujería.
This was my entry for the Wakering Photography Group February 10"x 10" Printed Challenge, the theme being Love.
I put this lot together using items we had kicking around the house and local arts and craft store.
The cat belonged to a late friend and neighbour who sadly recently passed away.
David was a remarkable photographer so I am sure he would have found this creation amusing, I used a tube that comes with a lubricating aerosol as a fishing rod, I then passed some cotton through the tube as fishing line and attached it to the heart.
I attached (glued) a fishes tail to the heart and then put the rest of the fish that I purchased in the base of the log, I then made the sign, the log is an ornament which has a tea light where the fish and sign are.
This is so far out of my comfort zone for sure, but at least I made the effort I guess.
