2023 Photo 350/15: My desperation grows over finding a picture a day for 2023. Today's offering is an elephant-themed trash. receptacle from my friend Brian Wells, who traveled with me to Kenya back in 2022. Brian's wife, Sherrene, found this objet d'art at Goodwill. I think it actually was meant to be a planter, but for me it will be a "circular file." 2023 | John M. Hudson
At least 230 years old wood beam and a piece of iron clamp from a peace time powder magazine of a Fortress of Brod , a biggest the Archduchy of Austria fortress built in Croatia (18th century - war powder magazine is inside fortress)

My entry to Bio-Cup 2021 Round 1. The theme was Media and Entertainment, with my subtheme being Music.
I’ve wanted to do a Crystal King revamp for a really long time, and such a terrible pun gave me a great opportunity to do so. I knew right from the start that I just had to give him a little crystal mohawk, with the leather jacket and speaker being added later on as I explored the concept. When I finished, he did end up being rather top heavy due to the guitar, so I attached one of those old 6x2x2 weighted bricks to his back, which surprisingly solved the issue.

This is a stamen of this flower. It has a very tiny tip, maybe around 1mm. Shot using a reverse ring and 18-55mm lens mounted to a Nikon D90.

I know I've already used this one in the diptych composition, but then I realized that I liked its simplicity and minimalism more and let it exist on its own.

This is "Doggy Blankie." It is actually a replacement Doggy Blankie. My son has had this blanket (a Gerber 'Lil Clutch blanket) it is about a foot square, white flannel on one side, blue silky side on the other with ruffled corners. (Comes in pink for girls). He has had this one for years, but the original one was lost at the Denver Zoo. We noticed it was missing pretty soon and followed the trail we had just been on, by the elephant enclosure. There were no trash cans or places it could have gone because the sides of the trail were blocked off due to construction going on, so it couldn't have fallen in anywhere. This was very traumatic, and we went to lost and found and I went back days later to see if ithad been found, but no luck. I ordered a new one off of eBay eventually and he has had it for years now. Doesn't need it as much as when he was younger, but he likes to hold it still. It is dirty even after we wash it. But "Doggy" will always be special to us.
