Veronica longifolia , Long-leaved Speedwell

Please view large for all the lovely detail!

This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds

Slender, upright spires of white, pink and blue tubular flowers appear in summer above cream-edged, mid-green leaves.

This elegant speedwell shows a good resistance to mildew and will add vertical interest throughout a sunny border on well-drained soil.

If cut back after the flowers have faded, it may produce a second flush in late summer or early autumn.

With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)

Taken for the Macro Mondays theme of 'New'

Over the Christmas period I had another birthday ending in '0'

My family very kindly bought me a new tablet, as my old one had reach the end of its capabilities.

It made a very colourful image for the theme.

One of my favorite photos I've ever made. I frequently photographed the bees writhing amongst the stamens fallen in clumps on the petals of my Southern Magnolia's flowers. This little feller actually fell off the petal while clutching an armful of stamens as he fell, but of course quickly righted himself and flew back onto the petal. Just an awesome capture for me. The theme for today in the Kerrisdale Cameras daily photo challenge is “Geometric”. This was a tough one. I thought about geometry from school which led me to think lines, angles, triangles and squares. I remembered this pedestrian bridge and decided to make it my subject but I needed to wait for the right time of day to get the shadows just right. #kcphotochallenge

Continuing this week's 'Spitfire' theme - here is a profile view of a Spitfire Mk 1. A key feature is the barely perceptible, tapering, twist to the wing. The leading edge points upwards by 2 degrees where it joins the body, reducing to half a degree at the tip. This subtle twist greatly improved the handling for pilots, but made the structure far more difficult to manufacture. The wing was the design of Canadian-born aerodynamicist Beverley Shenstone, an unsung hero of the Spitfire story.

This aircraft carries the Eagle Squadron badge. Three RAF squadrons were formed with volunteer airmen from the USA in 1940 before American entry into WW2. About 240 men served, of whom around 100 perished. In Sept 1942, the US airmen transferred to the US 8th Army Air Force. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Squadrons

Taken for Macro Mondays. This weeks theme is "It is all about the shadow". The button is just a bit bigger than the width of a pencil eraser. HMM everyone!

The theme for Macro Mondays is dice so I combined it with my week of black. Sometimes it isn't enjoyable how long it takes to assemble an image, while other times it is relatively easy. Black is challenging in many ways - reflection, dust, exposure, etc. There is always room to grow and learn, today was one of those days.

HMM!

This is a Japanese salt shaker, that's part of a set. I tried a 50-shot focus bracketing for this macro, which probably caused the background blur across the upper portion. Actual size is about 5 inches.

THEME : Reflection with water

Very difficult theme this week, especially when you have no river, no lake in the surroundings, and when the weather is dry! Took a crystal glass full of water and put it under my geraniums on the balcony. This makes a kind of abstract lol !!

Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.
