While we're praying for the end of the coronavirus pandemic, we have to protect ourselves and follow all the health and safety protocols. Stay safe and stay Home, my Flickr friends!😷
This photo is actually not staged despite what one might think. I have seen this mask in the window of a facility I visit once a weak for years now but never reacted to it before. Yesterday the light were shining through the window at precis the right angle and made for a lovely composition with the highlights on the mask and the spiderweb and of course the shadows. I am lucky I bought a compact lumix this winter to carry with me always in order to be able to grab the moment when it presents it self. I edited this photo with a hdr filter from nic collection and have one more in BW also with nic collection. You`re welcome to have a look at it in my photostream.

1 The Mask by Ron Eady
The Mask is part of an ongoing series of works carved from 100-year-old beams. I like to work from these beams that show the history, imperfections and markings from their previous life. It’s a process of working with chainsaws then chisels till a personality emerges that I follow.
I really wanted a chainsaw for Christmas. Instead, all I got was this stupid hedge trimmer... I was damned pissed!
My original version of this image was done in BW back in 2008 before I had Photoshop... I redid this in BW & Color and preferred this for the Weekly Small Group Challenge... I may post the new version in BW later but for now this is my offering... Cheers!!!
Check out my album entitled "Magic" to see the original BW version of this... I'm not even sure I could replicate it the way I did back then...

Category 18. Not The Bees ! / Most actors have their overacting moments. But there are those few special snowflakes who turned it into pure brilliance. Nic Cage, Shatner, Nic Cage, Chris Tucker, Nic Cage, Samurai Cop, Nic Cage and so on. Build any of these overacting moments. Except for Tommy Wiseau - he gets enough credit for it as it is already. Consider focusing on silly facial expressions, go crazy.
I instantly think about Jim Carrey as an overacting actor. Roles he has to play where so crazy and how many incredible scenes... Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, Yes man, Truman show, Bruce Almighty, Batman... I stop here... and The mask. Overacting is helped in this movie with some special effect ;)
Based on the scene in the Coco Bongo club. Enjoy !

This photo is not staged. The mask in the picture were put in this window in a cellar about 10 years ago where it have been collecting dust and spiderweb ever since. I discovered it last year and this is my second version of this forgotten mask in the window. The third version is coming soon.

a volte può essere comodo, ma il rischio è quello di non riconoscere il proprio volto guardandosi allo specchio... in effetti è come se la maschera diventasse parte di noi, risulta impossibile toglierla :(
The 1932 built art deco 6th Street Bridge will be demolished starting today (02/05/2016) this bridge has been the filming location for countless major movies, TV shows & commercials, music videos and photo shoots, sadly because of high alkali content in the sand used in the concrete this bridge has had a sort of internal cancer for many years now until the assessment was made that it would most likely come down in a major earthquake - As far as LA icons go this bridge is beloved by angeleno's and will be sadly missed - A new bridge will be built in it's place but with a very different design:

(wonder if wearing the mask causes any performance degradation?!)
Walking through the streets of Toulouse at dusk, I came across this surreal scene that stopped me in my tracks. Just as the evening light was casting its warm glow across the old buildings, a character straight out of the movies appeared - someone dressed perfectly as The Mask, complete with the iconic bright yellow suit and green face. The juxtaposition was perfect: this vibrant, almost cartoon-like figure against the understated elegance of Le Delicatessen's corner location. I couldn't have planned a better collision between fiction and reality if I'd tried. What struck me most was how the character seemed to belong in this setting despite being completely out of context - as if Toulouse had momentarily become a movie set where the ordinary and extraordinary could naturally coexist. It's these unexpected moments that make wandering the city with a camera so rewarding.
